🔵Craniosacral Therapy - What is it?

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle touch therapy that utilizes listening and good intentions to encourage overall wellbeing. By monitoring the subtle rhythms of the body, the therapist can better tune into the patient and their needs as the body adapts and heals itself (Find more explanation down below.)

🔵What are the benefits?

Through CST you can gain a deeper understanding of the root cause of your pain, in turn offering long-term pain relief. The idea is that the rhythms of the body, your breathing, pulse, and craniosacral rhythm, offer up insights for both you and the practitioner to better facilitate the mind-body connection.

🔵The mind-body connection… can you please elaborate?

As craniosacral therapy has such a deep focus on the rhythms of the body and self-healing, it is in this space that you can process things you’ve been holding onto, free of judgment or ego. Sometimes when we hold onto things, such as emotions or past trauma, the body will reflect that and try to speak up by offering things such as tension or pain. The body keeps the score, and it is our goal as therapists to provide a safe space where you can dive deeper into what that truly means for you.

🔵Who can benefit the most from CST?

I’ve seen great results in people who suffer from headaches/migraines, trauma, chronic illness or pain. However, please note that anyone can benefit from this work. Taking the time for self-care and positive touch is more important now than ever before in the ever-changing world we live in today.

Relaxation - What does it mean to you? Let me know in the comments!

For me it means one thing: listening. When you feel most safe, most secure in your environment, listening is a great way to relax. When there is no judgment, nobody to tell you no, then all that’s left is you, your mind and body.

Now listen for a moment. As long as you need. Stay present. Expect nothing in particular. Be open to anything. Anything can happen. What are your immediate sensations, feelings, movements, expressions? How is your throat, your hand, your leg, your knee? Do you feel any particular emotion? Is any particular thought bursting into your head? It’s ok to not know exactly what you’re feeling, and it’s ok to feel things here, there, and all over the place.

The idea is that in doing this you are growing a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection as it gives you an opportunity to learn and be present.

For now, just be open. For now, just listen. Thank you for reading 🙏

Hello everyone, welcome to my business page, Back to Self Massage & Wellness!

My name is Zachery Bandle, LGBT+ friendly and trauma-informed massage therapist and craniosacral therapist.

I specialize in global relaxation for pain relief, meaning that I prioritize the calming of the nervous system first and foremost for optimal results. Sometimes the body keeps the score, for days or years, and that score can commonly be felt in the soft tissues of the body, muscles and fascia alike that hold tension to the point of pain. If we can learn to relax our overly tight muscles, and create new neural pathways that recognize and understand how it feels to truly relax, then I’d like to think we are making progress.

A relaxed body is a happy body!

Also, a little bit about me:

Nature is my favorite place to be! I love to go hiking, kayaking, and there’s nothing like meditating outside on a nice calm day. Yoga is also pretty great outside, I find the Earth pretty grounding, go figure!

Hope to see you soon! I will be posting more soon, especially a post dedicated to craniosacral therapy, a form of bodywork that I’ve found to be most effective in relaxing the nervous system.
