It's that time of year again to make Fire Cider! Fire cider is a simple do-it-yourself remedy for ailments ranging from gastrointestinal discomforts to foggy mind to congestion. Ready?
Gathering your Supplies:
(1) Organic apple cider vinegar (Since this is going to be used as a natural remedy, I highly recommend using all organic ingredients)
(2) You'll need a sterily jar with a top that seals (you'll feel a rubbery lining around the inside of the top). If your reusing the jar, it should not smell like its last tenant!
(3) Organic fresh veggies and herbs that are SPICEY!
(4) Optional - local, raw honey to take the edge off the spicey. I use about 1 part honey to 3 parts vinegar.
Next, chop up your veggies and herbs and place them into the jar. Fill the jar with the apple cider vinegar, covering the veggies and herbs completely. Be sure to leave room for the honey for a little sweetness.
Now is the hardes part, THE WAIT.....I like to allow my blend to infuse for 6-8 weeks. Others choose a shorter time. Be sure to give your magical blend a good shake every day during THE WAIT.
Lastly, strain the veggies and herbs and store your fire cider in sterile jars. Take 1 tablespoons a day for overall health or take 3-4 tablespoons a day for an upset belly or congestion.
For more guidance, I recommend checking out a lovely recipe book written by Rosemary Gladstar and Friends, "Fire Cider! 101 Zesty Recipes for Health-Boosting Remedies Made with Apple Cider Vinegar.
Please send me pics of your fire cider!!! I can't wait to hear about it!
