🏋️‍♀️ Your Weekly Exercise Lineup—From Your Community PT

Not sure what your workouts should look like during the week? Save this 👇

At Clarity PT, we help people build strong, balanced, pain-free bodies—not just random workouts.

Here’s a simple weekly structure we recommend:

💪 2–3 Days: Strength Training
Focus on full-body strength (especially glutes + core)

❤️ 2–3 Days: Cardio
Walking, cycling, running—keep your heart healthy

🧘‍♀️ Daily: Mobility + Stretching
Even 5–10 minutes makes a difference

😴 1–2 Days: Recovery
Rest is part of the plan—not a setback

ACL injuries are one of the most preventable injuries we see in youth athletes…
but only if you train for it.

A well-designed ACL prevention program goes far beyond just “strengthening.” It should include:

✔️ Plyometrics (jump training)
✔️ Dynamic balance
✔️ Strength training
✔️ Core stability
✔️ Hip and trunk control

Timing matters too.
The best window to build these skills is pre-adolescence and early puberty, when we can help develop the neuromuscular control that many female athletes naturally lack.

And here’s why this matters 👇

⚠️ Female athletes are 4x more likely to re-tear their ACL
⚠️ And 6x more likely to tear the opposite ACL

One of the biggest risk factors we see?
Persistent side-to-side asymmetry in strength and movement.

This is why:
Two-leg testing isn’t enough.
Single-leg testing (like hop tests and movement analysis) is essential.

Prevention isn’t a one-time program — it’s something that should be trained, monitored, and maintained over time.

If your athlete plays soccer, basketball, volleyball, or lacrosse… this matters.

Don’t wait for an injury to take action.

Most ACL injuries don’t happen because of contact.
They happen because of how an athlete moves.

Research shows several biomechanical patterns that increase the risk of ACL injury — especially in female athletes.

🚩 Knee valgus (the knee collapsing inward)
🚩 Stiff landings with very little knee bend
🚩 Flat-foot contact with the ground
🚩 Excessive trunk lean

One finding that often surprises people:
Lateral trunk displacement alone can predict ACL injury risk in female athletes with up to 90% sensitivity.

Researchers describe these risk patterns as the “Four Dominances”:

• Ligament dominance – relying on ligaments instead of muscles to absorb force
• Quadriceps dominance – quads overpower hamstrings, increasing ACL strain
• Leg dominance – one leg is stronger or more coordinated than the other
• Trunk dominance – poor core control leading to excessive lateral movement

Another key point:
Many of these deficits don’t show up in two-legged testing.

That’s why single-leg testing and movement analysis are essential for identifying asymmetries and neuromuscular deficits.

The encouraging part?
These patterns are trainable and correctable.

Understanding how ACL injuries happen is the first step in preventing them.

⚽ Why do female athletes tear their ACL more often?

Research from Timothy E. Hewett shows that after puberty, female athletes experience ACL injuries 2–10x more often than males.

One major reason comes down to neuromuscular development.

During puberty, boys often experience a natural “neuromuscular spurt” — increases in strength, power, and coordination that help their muscles better control movement.

Girls typically don’t experience the same adaptation, which can lead to:
• Quads activating before hamstrings
• Less dynamic muscle control
• Greater reliance on ligaments for stability

And here’s something many people don’t realize:
Most ACL injuries in female athletes are non-contact injuries, often occurring during things like jumping, landing, or cutting.

The good news?
These risks can be significantly reduced with proper neuromuscular training and movement education.

Teaching athletes how to jump, land, cut, and control their bodies properly can make a huge difference in protecting their knees long-term.

If you have a young athlete, injury prevention should start before the season begins.

12 YEARS OF CLARITY 🤍

Twelve years ago, a vision for patient-first, relationship-driven care became reality. Today, we’re celebrating 12 years of serving our community — and what an incredible year it’s been.

This past year alone, we have:

✨ Opened the doors to our brand new Clarendon Hills clinic — expanding access to care and growing our Clarity family
✨ Welcomed incredible new team members who share our passion for personalized, one-on-one treatment
✨ Expanded specialty services and community programs (hello, Clarity Mom Collective 💛)
✨ Helped hundreds of patients return to the activities they love — stronger, more confident, and pain-free
✨ Continued building meaningful partnerships within our local community

From day one, our mission has been simple: you’re never just a diagnosis — you’re family.

To our patients, families, referral partners, and community — thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and growing with us. Every milestone we celebrate is because of YOU.

Here’s to continued growth, deeper impact, and many more years of clarity, strength, and community.

With gratitude,
The Clarity Team 🤍

That’s why we created the Clarity Mom Collective — a welcoming space for local moms who are newly postpartum or navigating life with babies and toddlers.

✨ Our FIRST meet-up is all about returning to exercise postpartum. ✨

We’ll cover:
• When it’s safe to return to movement
