This week, our nursing homes across Ohio came together to celebrate and honor the incredible veterans who call our communities home. From pinning ceremonies and heartfelt tributes to shared meals, stories, music, and moments of connection — every celebration was filled with gratitude and love.

These men and women served with courage, strength, and sacrifice, and it is truly an honor to care for them each day. Seeing their smiles, hearing their memories, and celebrating them as one big family is what Veterans Day is all about.

To all of our veterans: thank you for your service. We honor you today and always.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes 🇺🇸

Foundations Health Solutions was proud to sponsor this year’s Annual Veterans Day Celebration at the beautiful Normandy Banquet Center — alongside amazing community partners including ARMC, Bella Care Hospice, Capital Health Home Care, and the Ashtabula County Veterans Service Commission.

It was an unforgettable day filled with heartfelt tributes, delicious food, inspiring speakers, and even visits from the Paws of Honor therapy dogs! We were especially honored by the presence of Ohio’s only living Medal of Honor recipient, Specialist Fourth Class Kenneth David, whose story moved everyone in attendance.

With nearly 250 guests gathered to honor our nation’s heroes, this celebration reminded us all of the courage, sacrifice, and strength of those who serve.

To all our veterans — thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

We’re proud to announce plans for a new 97-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center coming soon to Amherst, Ohio!

Breaking ground in Spring 2026, this state-of-the-art community will feature all private suites, advanced rehabilitation services, and exceptional nursing care — all designed to provide comfort, dignity, and the highest quality of life for every resident.

“At Foundations Health Solutions, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of those we serve,” said Administrator Robert Peterson. “This new center in Amherst reflects our dedication to providing care that is not only clinically excellent, but also compassionate and community-focused.”

We’re excited to expand our mission of care to the Amherst area — and can’t wait to welcome you when our doors open!

Avon Place is no longer part of the Foundations family and is now owned by an out-of-state provider. While we’re no longer affiliated, we continue to proudly serve the surrounding area through our locally owned and operated facilities.

Our Biggest Loser Contest between Jefferson Healthcare, Pine Grove, Saybrook Landing, and Carington Park has officially wrapped up, and the results are in! Our staff members took on this annual challenge with energy, determination, and plenty of team spirit, encouraging a healthier lifestyle while bonding as a team.

We had an amazing time celebrating the incredible work of our Activity Directors—the true heart and soul of our nursing homes! 💛

Our Activity Directors go above and beyond to make every day special. But what makes them truly extraordinary is the genuine connections they form with each resident. They listen, laugh, comfort, encourage, and become like family—ensuring no one ever feels alone.

At Salem Woods, our dedicated staff never ceases to amaze us, especially during challenging times like the recent winter storm. Mark Banchy and Robert "Boots" Boots, went above and beyond to ensure our residents received the care they deserved.

Mark Banchy, who is approaching his 41st work anniversary, walked 2.2 miles through snow and freezing temperatures to get to work on time. His reason? “I knew the residents needed to have clean laundry, and I was determined to make sure they had what they needed.”

Meanwhile, Boots, one of our amazing cooks, faced a similar challenge. Scheduled as the PM cook, he saw cars struggling to make it up the icy hill to our building. Determined not to let our residents down, he laced up and walked 1.8 miles uphill to ensure he made it to work, ready to serve.

We are beyond grateful for these two and all our staff members who make Salem Woods a place of compassion and service. Read more about their story below.

Our Christmas Decorations Contest was a huge success! 🎄✨

Every corner of our facilities is glowing with Christmas cheer, and it’s all thanks to the incredible effort of our team. Seeing the smiles on our residents' faces and feeling the Christmas spirit in every room, hallway, and common area is truly magical. Take pride in the joy, hope, and peace you’ve brought to residents, families, and teammates alike. Way to go, Foundations' Family!

Foundations participated in the Annual Westlake Senior Center Chili Cook-Off, where local Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facilities showcased their cooking skills—and we brought the heat! From The Woods on French Creek, Chef Kristin Dyer’s six-pepper blend chili, topped with cheese and cornbread, stole the show and took home first place!

This fun community event gave us the chance to share our delicious food, highlight our services, and promote our exciting new Westlake location, Crocker Pointe. We loved connecting with the community, passing out chili, and seeing so many smiles.

A big thank you to the Westlake Senior Center for hosting and congratulations to the Westlake Team for making this event a success!
