There’s so much talk about gratitude this time of year — lists, challenges, reminders to “focus on the positives.” And yes… gratitude is powerful. It rewires your brain, regulates your emotions, and genuinely supports mental health.
But here’s the part women never hear enough:
You can be grateful for your life and still need space.
You can love your people and still have limits.
You can be thankful and still feel overwhelmed.
Because real gratitude starts with honoring yourself:
your capacity, your energy, the life you’re building, and the version of you you’re becoming.
Boundaries aren’t the opposite of gratitude.
They protect it.
They allow you to stay regulated instead of resentful, grounded instead of depleted.
