I had an AMAZING time at the Facial Research Congress in New Orleans this past week.

I heard from some of the top researchers in fascial studies including Robert Schleip, Carla and Antonio Stecco, John Sharkey, Stephen Porges, Gil Headley, and so many more.

I learned about modalities that are being used to help people take back control of their bodies and lives.

I met inspiring academics and clinicians from around the world. Professors, doctors, physical therapists, movement specialists, sports medicine clinicians, and body workers coming together with a shared passion for fascia.

The Facial Research Society is committed to increasing awareness of fascia's importance in body function, moving forward research, and supporting the ways in which clinicians improve quality of life for their patients and clients.

Lastly, I connected with one of my favorite Bowenwork instructors, Sandra Gustafson, whomever I've followed since my introduction to the modality more than 15 years ago. She, in turn, introduced me to Chris Reed, part of Bowen Therapist Support Network and prior president of the Australian Bowenwork Association. I cannot wait to collaborate with these two and see them again at the next Fascia Research Congress in 2028!!

So amazing!!

So amazing!!

🚀 Promising Breakthrough in Fascia Research! 🧬✨

A research team in Virginia, USA has developed a revolutionary microscopic imaging technique that unveils the stunning architecture of the extracellular matrix of fascia like never before! 🔬👀

I can’t help but think that legendary matrix pioneers Alfred Pischinger and Hartmut Heine would have been just as thrilled as I am! 🤩 Can’t wait to see what groundbreaking insights this cutting-edge tool will reveal in the coming years—how the ECM adapts to mechanical forces, biochemical shifts, and other biological influences.

Stay tuned! 🔍🔗 More here: Nature Article

One of the (many!) beauties of Bowen Therapy is that it is so portable.

You can work with a person lying on a massage table, and you can work equally well with someone lying across the tailgate of a ute, on a bush walk, or across the end of a double bed.

You can even work on someone sitting next to you on a plane, or at a table in a restaurant, or standing in a department store.

Yes! I hope to finish my instructor training some day!

“Any modality as effective as Bowen should be more widely used and distributed.”

Bowenwork stimulates piezoelectric activity throughout the body. That's why clients feel so many reactions often far away from where the moves are performed.

Your body is not just a biomechanical machine. It’s an electrical symphony, tuned and powered by movement itself. And at the heart of this symphony is your fascia—a living, intelligent network of connective tissue that wraps every cell, muscle, organ, and nerve.

Fascia is made of tropocollagen, a triple-helix protein that forms a liquid crystal matrix. This matrix is piezoelectric—meaning it generates electrical current when it’s compressed, stretched, or moved.

Every step.
Every breath.
Every subtle pressure sends signals through this matrix.

These signals travel along collagen nanotubules, acting like fiber-optic cables, transmitting quantum-level information across the body at astonishing speeds. They help regulate repair, perception, coordination, and even emotional tone.

This is why movement is medicine.

It doesn’t just build strength—it activates the body’s regenerative field.
It doesn’t just improve circulation—it charges the fascia with current.

In stillness, the system can stagnate.
In mindful motion, the system comes alive.

This isn’t speculation.
This is measurable.
It’s how acupuncture works.
It’s why physical therapy is effective.
It’s why breathwork, somatic practices, and movement-based healing modalities produce such deep results.

You are not separate from the field.
You are not static.
You are a dynamic, self-healing matrix of light, pressure, water, and frequency.

Your body listens to how you move.
Your fascia speaks in electric code.
And regeneration is the response to coherent, conscious motion.

Move with awareness.
Charge the grid.
The current of life is always flowing.

Did you know that your jaw and pelvis are connected?

Research shows that when people with certain pain conditions (like complex regional pain syndrome, or CRPS) had their jaw muscles relaxed, their hip flexibility improved. But when they clenched their jaw tightly, their hip flexibility decreased.

This study highlights something Bowen Therapists have long understood: tension or imbalance in one area of the body can affect distant parts.

In this case, the jaw and pelvis are linked through muscular and fascial connections, meaning tension in one area can restrict movement in the other.

Bowen Therapy’s gentle techniques aim to release tension and restore balance across the body.

By gently working with both local and interconnected areas, Bowen Therapy aims to encourage flexibility, ease discomfort, and support the body’s natural alignment.

Great feedback from a client!

"I have recently been introduced to Bowenwork through Kathryn Jul. In conjunction with therapies to deal with arthritis and other aches and pains, I am adding bowenwork to address the underlying imbalances that lead to these conditions. The sessions are very relaxing and the subtle touch is healing and I notice an immediate lightening in my body and movement. Kathryn has a gentle touch and her healing energy flows through. I strongly recommend to anyone seeking deeper body alignment." KF

From the American Bowen Academy

Bowenwork is a gentle form of bodywork where very subtle moves performed over muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body through multiple layers of fascia, impacting nerves, lymphatics, organ function, muscles, joints, as well as the autonomic nervous system - an innovative approach to chronic and acute pain management.
