We’ve lost our dear, beautiful, strong, elegant, hilarious, and iconic Aunt Paulette, and we are heartbroken.

As a teenager, I worshipped Aunt Paulette. Looking back, it was her confidence that I admired most - she knew exactly who she was. Never flighty, nervous, or self-effacing, she exuded a strength and calmness that made people feel at ease. She didn’t just walk into a room; she glided into it like a 1950s movie star, reminiscent of Rosalind Russell or Katharine Hepburn, holding a cocktail, laughing her head off and tossing out wisecracks to those who could keep up with her.

Like any strong woman, she had a signature look: a classic brunette bob, red lipstick, short red nails, and an array of diamonds and gold jewelry. She loved big, bold bracelets. I once told her that bracelets were a symbol of power for women, and she slyly replied, “Oh, really? I just like them. Who knew I was so powerful?”

She was my warrior sister in the battle against breast cancer. When I was diagnosed in 2022, she was already fighting a recurrence of her own. Yet, she called me right away, worried. “You’ll get through it,” she said. “I don’t know how I did it, but I did - and so will you.” And she was right. We both got through it. But for her, the treatments dragged on far longer than anyone should ever have to endure and still she faced each day with bravery and hope and a sense of humor.

I was fortunate to see her a week before she passed, surrounded by her three grown boys, so strong and selfless, along with countless other family members who streamed in and out. In that moment, I thought: if my boys love me and are there for me the way hers have been for her, I will have lived an incredible life. It doesn’t get much better than to pass peacefully, surrounded by the people you love.

Riposa in pace, Aunt Paulette.

We all love you so very much.❤️

Today is World Autism Awareness day! Thrilled to contribute this piece at my job at Effective School Solutions on autism, anxiety and the need for sensory spaces. Still working on the part about decluttering😂

I am so proud of my brave and optimistic son who, at 22, still faces daily challenges (he was questioned by cops twice this month for absolutely no reason. I know they are just doing their job but is pacing a crime?) with a smile on his face and hope in his heart. He always thinks the best of people and is the most honest, heartwarming person I know. Cheers to everyone with a loved one on the spectrum!💙

Happy Birthday to my firstborn son! The happiest day of my life was when you were born, rivaled only by the equally happiest day of my life when your brother was born😂—such a fun night with and who made an appearance via FaceTime. I am so proud of your accomplishments and can’t wait to see how far you go in life. 🏃🚄Cheers to 22!🥂Happy Birthday!!🥳🎂🎉

I’m heartbroken How to Dance in Ohio is closing! 😢If you know a person on the autism spectrum or are on the spectrum yourself, this is a must-see. The cast is amazing, the story is uplifting and the message about what it actually means to have autism is so important. Don’t miss it! DM me for the link to the lottery which is a great way to catch this or any show on Broadway.

Happy to contribute this opinion piece which hopefully sheds some light on Autism Awareness v Autism Acceptance

"In other words, it's not enough to notice a person has autism; we need to acknowledge the capabilities of people on the autism spectrum, receive them into society as equals, and provide the same education and employment opportunities as everyone else."

Read our latest OP piece which examines Autism Awareness v. Autism Acceptance and the link between autism and mental health👇

NeedQuest connects special needs families in New Jersey to providers via our website, NeedQuest.com.

NeedQuest is a directory of services and resources for parents, children and families affected by disabilities. Prior to COVID-19, NeedQuest hosted live events such as Camp-A-Palooza, School-A-Palooza and Thera-Palooza to connect families to providers in a unique forum with exhibitors, entertainers and a team of volunteers from local universities. While our live events are currently suspended, we have every hope we will resume in the Spring of 2021 (cross fingers!) starting with Camp-A-Palooza to assist families in finding appropriate and safe summer programs for their children.

Please visit our website to find online therapy, information and webinars hosted by providers including financial and legal experts.
