Happy September! Say hello to Gina! She’s a real-life superhero who embraces challenges and finds ways to prove the hard stuff CAN get done. This past July marked her sixth year at CrossFit Swarm, and while we aren’t 100% sure, we think she works out on the window side of the gym (with her blue mat) 98% of the time.
Gina is active in the gym and community events like the Westfield Flat Fast 5k and our Holiday Party. This past year, she partnered with her long-time friend Betsy at our in-house competition as Team “Mom Jeans and Power Cleans” - a partnership that goes back to their days as BCB’s (iykyk)😁. She’s the Queen of the 8am and the weekend classes and usually one of the last ones to leave the gym after class, earning her the right to be a “Kick Ass Nana!”
If you haven’t met Gina, here are a few fun facts!
Gina has a lifelong passion for horses! She has owned a horse and done lots of riding and showing. She said, “I enjoy an annual weekend away at a dude ranch to get my fix!”
Want a little more? When her own kids were younger, Gina and her husband, Tom started taking their kids on an annual ski trip up north. As the family has grown, they have made it an annual tradition with her own kids, their spouses and her two grandchildren to take a trip each February.
Gina is committed to community at the gym, at home…and in her Jeep. When asked about it she said, “The “Jeep Wave” signifies a shared love of adventure and a sense of belonging, whether on the road or trail. The ducks on the dashboard signify “Jeep Ducking” and owners leave each other a duck as a friendly act of kindness, and again a sense of community. We participate in both! It’s fun!”
Gina, you bring community to any space you are in. From your work with the Amelia Park Children's Museum to the gym, you are what the world needs more of. Here's to getting those toes to bar...and to you! 💛💪
