🧜🏻‍♀️A second opinion can make all the difference!👍🏻This patient came to us with tenderness in his lower incisors after prior root canal treatment in two of them and was set to have all four incisors extracted 🙀 by his oral surgeon friend. After thorough evaluation, we chose to retreat teeth #24 and #26 and perform root canals on #23 and #25 instead. Fast forward seven months, the once extensive pathology shows significant bony healing, and the patient couldn’t be happier to keep his natural teeth. 🦷✨ Saving smiles, one tooth at a time!💋

🧜🏻‍♀️✨Saving a Tooth with External Cervical Resorption (ECR)✨ and symptomatic irreversible pulpitis , symptomatic apical periodontitis:
🦷This case was treated with a combined approach: root canal therapy (RCT) to address pulpal involvement and surgical repair to restore the resorptive defect. The lingual location of the resorption made the surgical access, especially tricky. Patient is a physician who really wanted to save this tooth with treatment and was grateful for the option. 🌟
📕 This combined approach of RCT with surgery has been described in the endodontic literature by Heithersay, 2004; Patel et al., 2018. 🙏🏻
