Winter blues can look like:
– wanting rest but also a full life reset
– doing the inner work but still needing to lay down
– self-care that’s… crystals + cats + dissociation 😅
– feeling tired, cold, emotionally unavailable to your own to-do list

What do you notice when you’re stressed?⁣

While you may not feel particularly stressed, your subconscious thoughts about an "unsafe" event can activate an automatic stress response in the mind and body.⁣

Signs of stress can range from really subtle signs, like holding your breath or feeling fatigued despite getting enough sleep, to more significant signs when chronic stress exists, like high blood pressure or IBS.⁣

When chronic stress goes unnoticed and unchecked for long periods of time, this can send your nervous system into dysregulation, maintaining high levels of cortisol in the body and keeping your stress response (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn) active.⁣

This can have a direct impact on your focus, productivity, mood, energy, and health.⁣

It can also show up as self-defeating patterns and habits that go against your desire for a healthy lifestyle and can spike cravings for sugar and comfort foods.⁣

I'll go first! When I'm stressed I have a tendency to go into shut down mode. Before I know it, my brain gets foggy, I become fatigued and even a little irritable. Sometimes, I’ll even start procrastinating and distracting myself with Netflix binge watches. ⁣⁣⁣

While we can't always control our stress, we can control our response to it. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
With awareness, I can combat stress with natural remedies, healthy habits and grounding practices. This ultimately helps me create a felt sense of safety and well-being that allows me to keep moving forward, boosting my productivity, energy and mood all the while.⁣⁣⁣
