God hates violence & evil!!!!

No matter where we stand politically, most of us can agree on this:
we long for peace & safety for our children.
We crave wisdom & restraint in a world feels so heavy.

We are hopeful forces bringing destruction would be stopped swiftly and decisively.

Lord, we pray🙏that those who seek to harm the innocent would be taken out of power.
Lord, bring resolution. Protect our sons and daughters.
End the suffering.

May compassion rise above hatred.
May courage rise above fear.
May peace move forward more quickly than conflict.

As a physician, and before that as a pharmacist, I’ve long suspected as much. But, for the past few years, as a self-employed family who must pay all of our own costs (premiums, high deductibles, etc.) the scam has become painfully clear.

My latest example, using a couple of prescription meds for one of my kids:

Walgreens, using our insurance:
Drug 1: $452
Drug 2: $207
Total: $659

Walgreens, cash price with GoodRx coupon:
Drug 1: $53
Drug 2: $38
Total: $91

Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs (online pharmacy), cash prices, no coupon needed:
Drug 1: $29
Drug 2: $22
Special temperature controlled shipping charge: $55
Total: $106

The bad actor here is the insurance company, that has artificially inflated the charge for the exact same medications that you can buy at much less expense without insurance. The insurance company’s partner in acting bad is the PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Manager), which is actually owned by the insurance company. The inflated charges are passed on to those who pay the premiums (employers with more than 50 employees, and self-employed families like mine), and it is not sustainable. This is bankrupting companies and families and the entire system is circling the drain.
