1. Feet should touch the floor while sitting with your butt all the way back in the chair, if they don’t, get a foot stool

2. Elbows should be at a 90 degree angle when your hands are at the keyboard, if they are not, adjust the chair height and/or the arm rests

3. The top 3rd of your screen should be at your eye level and the screen should be about an arm length away from you, if not, move the screen to the right distance and get a riser for your computer screen.
4. If you like to rest your wrists down when typing or using your mouse, get a gel pad to cushion the wrist and place it in a neutral position.

If you have a desk job, you may spend 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week sitting at your desk. You can do all the stretching, exercise and treatments that you want but if you always return to a problematic sitting position for that much of your waking hours, your pain and tension will always come back. Start by adjusting your work station and then see what changes you feel in your body! If any issues remain, come and see me 💆‍♀️👩🏽‍⚕️

Relief from TMJ pain is within your reach!

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder is a painful problem caused by the joints of the lower jaw becoming dysfunctional. Surprisingly, TMJ can originate from a craniosacral system restriction that results in an imbalance between the temporal bones on each side of the head. Other causes include: nervous tension, tooth grinding, jaw clenching, whiplash injury to the neck, or a malocclusion of the teeth. CranioSacral Therapy (a gentle hands-on technique) is highly effective at locating and alleviating the underlying problems and effective at mobilizing temporal bones.

Does your neck hurt after watching the TOTAL ECLIPSE?! Here are my most recommended self care tools for head and neck issues. Of course, I would always recommend a professional evaluation of your specific issues first, but once your symptoms become manageable, you don’t need to spend a ton of money to have what you need maintain your progress and to manage small flare ups at home. Here is a description of the 2 tools that I tend to recommend the most;

1. 2 tennis balls in a sock; lie down with the tennis balls on either side of your spine near the lower edge of your shoulder blades in a spot that feels somewhat tender but good. Place your arms out the the side with the palms up to increase the stretch/change the angle of the stretch. Repeat as different arm angles until it feels looser or until if starts to feel more tender and less good. Move the balls up the spine to a new spot and repeat. NOTE: this exercise should only be done when you are out of the acute phase and can tolerate this amount of pressure. I usually give this after a few treatment sessions to specific patients who have decrease shoulder and trunk mobility and who do not get aggravated by the increased pressure.

2. Still point inducer; can be purchased directly off of the Upledger institute website as well as other sites like Amazon. Lying on a yoga mat with the still point inducer at the occiput helps create balance in the Craniosacral rhythm as well as decrease stress and relaxation. I often recommend this tool for headache and/or stress and anxiety management.

And there you go! All of my secrets are revealed!! ❤️👩🏽‍⚕️💆‍♀️
