Then to end the week receiving an email from a client passing on feedback from one of their employees who attended a session three weeks ago.

"Be Tick Aware"
Ticks are now an all year round problem, some good information being shared by Lyme Disease UK

😲 Help! I’ve been bitten by a tick

If you find a tick attached, remove it safely without distressing it - don’t use oil, matches, fingers, or blunt tweezers. A proper tick removal tool, dental floss, or a fine thread loop can be used to pull it out smoothly. If removal fails, seek medical advice.

Once removed:
✅ Check your body thoroughly - ticks can hide between toes, under waistbands, in the groin, and along the hairline. Check pets too.
✅ Clean the bite site with antiseptic and wash your hands.
✅ Monitor the bite - take a photo, mark the edges, and watch for any spreading rash (EM rash) which can appear from 3 days to 3 months after the bite. In some cases, a rash won’t appear at all.

Remember: only a small proportion of ticks carry the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, and some initial irritation is normal.

If a rash appears or symptoms develop, keep a symptom diary and seek medical advice promptly.

Be careful with cold and flu remedies around your pets.

Be careful with cold and flu remedies around your pets.

As the weather gets colder, we enter the cough and cold season.

We hope you all stay well but remember if you are using cough, cold and flu treatments they can be a danger to your pets🐶🐱⚠️

There are many different types of products for the symptomatic relief of coughs, cold and flu symptoms. These include tablets, capsules, syrups and hot drinks. These products can contain a
variety of different drug ingredients including decongestants, vitamins, painkillers (such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, aspirin), caffeine and antihistamines.

If your pet has eaten one of these products, it’s important to know exactly which product and ingredients were involved. Products with the same brand name can contain different formulations.

Take the packaging and any remaining medicine with you to your vet if you need to go or call our Animal PoisonLine on 01202 509000 📞 for advice.

Great training day to refresh my Canine First Aid, attending the SQA approved ITC First Aid Training for Dogs at Tillycroy Support Services.
