๐ŸŒŸ Interception and Emotional Well-being ๐ŸŒŸ
โ €
Letโ€™s explore interception and its impact on our emotional well-being. There is a reason why the National Institute of Mental Health has prioritized the research on interoceptive processes and itโ€™s role in mental and physical wellness. Letโ€™s take a brief look:
โ €
Interception refers to our ability to perceive and interpret signals from our own body. It's the way we understand and respond to sensations like hunger, thirst, pain, and even emotions.
โ €
But why is interception so important for our emotional well-being? Well, by tuning into our body's internal signals, we can better understand our emotional experiences and respond to them in a healthy and balanced way.
โ €
Here are a few ways interception can positively impact our emotional well-being:
โ €
๐Ÿ”ธ Self-Awareness: Paying attention to how our body reacts to different emotions helps us recognize and acknowledge our feelings. It allows us to practice self-compassion and respond to ourselves with kindness and understanding. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’–
โ €
๐Ÿ”ธ Emotional Regulation: By being in tune with our body, we can better manage our emotions. We can identify when we're feeling overwhelmed and take proactive steps to calm ourselves down, whether it's through deep breathing, mindfulness, or seeking support from loved ones.
โ €
๐Ÿ”ธ Resilience: Understanding our body's signals can help us detect early signs of stress or burnout. By recognizing these cues, we can take necessary steps to prevent emotional exhaustion and prioritize self-care activities that contribute to our well-being.
โ €
Remember, interception is a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time. We can cultivate our ability to listen to our body's wisdom and honor its needs Take a moment today to check in with yourself, notice how your body feels, and be present with your emotions. Please be aware that if you have a history of adverse childhood experiences, your body may feel unsafe. In this case, consult a licensed therapist.

๐ŸŒŸ Unmasking Relational Anxiety: Steps to Discover Your Authentic Self ๐ŸŒŸ

Are you tired of feeling anxious in your relationships? One root cause of persistent relational anxiety is the act of masking our true selves. Here are some empowering steps to unmask and embrace your authentic self! ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒˆ

1๏ธโƒฃ Know Your Sensory Profile: Whether you're neurodivergent or neurotypical, understanding your sensory needs and challenges can be a game-changer. Take time to explore how different sensations impact you, and learn to honor and communicate your boundaries effectively. ๐ŸŽง๐ŸŒธ

2๏ธโƒฃ Define Your Relationship Values: What do you truly value in a relationship? Take stock of your core values and the characteristics that create a sense of safety for you. ๐Ÿ—๏ธโค๏ธ

3๏ธโƒฃ Take Action in Alignment: Step by step, move towards living your values by identifying your needs, openly communicating them, and setting and maintaining boundaries. Each small actionable step will bring you closer to authenticity and healthier relationships. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒŸ

Attention all serial fixers! Though fixing and problem solving may be well intended, I invite you to explore the process underneath the fixing. Are you anxious by your own narrative of another and unconsciously aiming to relieve your own felt state? Healing often occurs in the space of active listening and empathic reflection. Less is often more.

Can you discern whether you are anxiously attached or authentically connected? Whatโ€™s different in your experience? Therapy provides an opportunity to identify the behavioral, cognitive, and emotional nuances in experience, so we are better equipped to communicate and receive relational boundaries. If our communication is muddy, our boundaries will be muddy; if our boundaries are muddy, our mode of relating will be anxious.

Got feelings? Do you find yourself fighting those feelings through the activation of thoughts? Are you in a wrestling match with thoughts and behaviors as a means to avoid the sensations related to anxiety, depression, or grief? 1. Notice the feeling, sensation, or behavior through observation, 2. Perhaps notice the fleeing or clinging to an impermanent state, 3. Ask yourself how these feelings are related to your values, 4 commit to incremental behaviors aligned to your values. Feelings and sensations are impermanent, and this includes happiness; present moment awareness, despite the discomfort provides access to spontaneous right action.

There is no changing the world without a deep, hard look within at how one participates. Reassessing our individual and collective values, while simultaneously measuring whether our individual and collective behavior aligns to those values is key to making individual and systemic changes. We can create a more compassionate world. How do your thoughts, feelings, actions or inaction line up?
