Remember, we got rid of measles.... until now. Dr. B Kathleen E. Bradley, MD

Most people who get the MMR vaccine have no or only mild side effects. Measles, on the other hand, can lead to hospitalization, lung infection, brain swelling, and death.

Vaccination prevents measles.

COVID-19 isn’t gone.

Some of our loved ones are still at increased risk from an infection:
πŸ‘΅ Older adults
🫁 People with chronic health issues
πŸ›‘οΈ Weakened immune systems
🀰 Pregnant women
πŸ‘Ά Young babies

The best defense remains simple: staying up to date on your vaccines. ✨
Yearly vaccination lowers the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and even death. People at higher risk benefit more from getting updated vaccines.

πŸ†• Fall 2025 update:
The U.S. is introducing a monovalent JN.1-based vaccine (LP.8.1 strain) to better match today’s circulating viruses (FDA guidance).

πŸ“… Timing matters. Updated vaccines will be available early fall 2025 β€” and yes, you can receive them at the same appointment as your flu shot and RSV vaccine (if eligible).

Stay πŸ’›

FIGO statement on Paracetamol (acetaminophen) use during pregnancy and autism risk: evidence does not support causal association

While some observational studies have suggested associations, these findings have fundamental methodological limitations, including recall bias, inadequate exposure characterisation, heterogeneous outcome assessment and insufficient control for confounding factors. Obstetric practice should be based on evidence-based medicine and careful evaluation of research methodology. Recent statements questioning paracetamol safety go against established scientific findings and may harm maternal and foetal health by discouraging use of this medication.

"As obstetric professionals, we should maintain our focus on evidence-based practice and advocate for our patients based on rigorous scientific research and proper evaluation of study quality." - Dr Frank Louwen, FIGO President-Elect

Healthcare providers should continue recommending paracetamol as the preferred analgesic during pregnancy when medically needed, counselling patients based on evidence while maintaining confidence in this medication's established safety profile.
