Weekly therapy is valuable. And sometimes it’s not enough.

If your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, school refusal, or emotional dysregulation — and one hour a week isn’t creating the change they need — an Intensive Outpatient Program might be the right next step.

IOP isn’t inpatient. It’s not residential. Your child sleeps at home, stays in school, and keeps their life. But instead of one session a week, they get structured group therapy, skills training, and clinical support multiple days a week.

At Engage Treatment, we run three IOP tracks right here in Westlake Village — Pr***en (10-12), Teen (13-17), and Young Adult (18-25). We’re clinician-owned, clinician-led, and Joint Commission Accredited.

Save this for later — or send it to someone who might need it.

This one is special.

Devin Cooper has earned his Doctorate in Psychology — he’s now Devin Cooper, PsyD.

At Engage, Devin is a Registered Psychological Associate practicing under the supervision of Blake Brisbois, PsyD (Licensed Psychologist #32519). The doctorate is the next chapter in a long arc of work — work he does alongside our teens and families every week.

If you know Devin, you know this milestone reflects exactly who he is — someone who never stops growing, learning, and deepening his ability to show up for the kids he serves.

You’ll find him in our Teen IOP and LGBTQIA+ support groups, walking alongside teens through the parts of adolescence that don’t have easy answers. Steady, affirming, real.

We are so proud of you, Devin. This is well-earned.

Congratulations from your entire Engage Treatment family.

Drop a 🎉 for Devin.

Tomorrow is ZOW — and Engage Treatment will be there.

Childhood Matters does essential work protecting the children in our community, and we’re proud to show up alongside them again this year.

If you’re going to the ZOW event on April 25th, come say hi. We’d love to connect.

And if you want to learn more about Childhood Matters and the work they do, give a follow. They deserve every bit of support our community can offer.

See you there.

Your nervous system already knows what to do outside.

There’s a reason therapists keep recommending walks, fresh air, and time in nature. It’s not just a nice idea. Research consistently shows that time outdoors lowers cortisol, improves mood, and helps regulate the nervous system — for teens and adults alike.

Today, on Earth Day, a gentle reminder: healing doesn’t only happen in an office. Sometimes it happens on a trail, in a backyard, or sitting on the grass with someone you trust.

Happy Earth Day from Engage Therapy. 🌿

You don’t have to have all the answers to be the parent your child needs.

You don’t have to say the perfect thing. You don’t have to fix it by bedtime. You don’t have to pretend you’re not worried.

What your child needs most is a parent who shows up — even when it’s hard, even when you’re unsure, even when the only thing you can say is “I’m here.”

That’s not the bare minimum. That’s everything.

April is Stress Awareness Month. And if you’re parenting a teenager, you already know — teen stress doesn’t always look like adult stress.

It’s not always “I’m so stressed.” Sometimes it’s the bedroom door that stays closed. The grades that quietly slip. The friend group that suddenly shifts.

Here are five ways stress shows up differently in teens — and what to look for beneath the surface.

👉 Swipe through to see all five.

Because once you know what you’re looking at, you can meet them where they are.

Six years running.

Every year since 2021, Engage Therapy has partnered with for Zones of Wellness — and every year we're reminded why it matters.

ZOW brings together families, providers, and community organizations in one place to talk openly about youth mental health. No waitlists. No referral forms. Just conversations, resources, and connection.

For us, it's personal. The families we work with don't just exist inside a therapy room. They live in this community. And when providers collaborate instead of compete, families benefit.

We're proud to be back again this year. More details coming soon.

Spring doesn't ask you to be over it. It just shows up.

And sometimes that's the most honest thing about a new season — it arrives whether you feel ready or not. The hard stuff doesn't disappear. But there's something quiet and real about making room for what comes next, even when you're still carrying what came before.

For the families we work with, this is often how progress looks. Not a clean break. Not a before-and-after. Just a slow, uneven opening up.

If your family is in one of those in-between seasons, we're here.

This is the thing we come back to every day.

The teens in our program don't just learn skills in a workbook. They learn them in a room full of other teens who get it. They practice honesty with people who are practicing it too. They build trust by showing up, again and again, for each other.

That's what makes group-based treatment different from going it alone. It's not just the curriculum. It's the belonging.

And for parents — the same is true. Our Reflective Parenting groups exist because you shouldn't have to figure this out by yourself either.

One of the simplest things you can do when your kid is upset: help them name what they're feeling.

It sounds small, but research backs it up. When we put language to an emotion, it actually reduces its intensity. Dr. Dan Siegel calls it "name it to tame it" — and it works for adults too.

Three ways to practice at home:

→ Say the feeling out loud together. "It sounds like you're frustrated" is more helpful than "calm down."
→ Use a feelings wheel or chart. Some kids don't have the vocabulary yet — a visual anchor gives them options.
→ Validate before you solve. "That makes sense" goes further than jumping straight to fixing it.

This is one of the core skills we practice in IOP — building a shared emotional language between teens and their families.
