Our Equine Interactive Programs offer an experiential, short-term approach that goes beyond the traditional to help restore balance in people’s lives. When we Stand InBalance, we are able to face life’s challenges from a place of calm, inner strength. Horses, due to their unique animal nature, act as mirrors for our inner selves. They provide opportunities for us to develop greater self-awareness, increased self-confidence, and improved relationships – both personally and professionally. Stand InBalance is not about riding or horsemanship. It’s about partnership, communication, and authenticity; and having fun along the way. Working with our professional staff and the horses can help you discover a solution-focused approach to current problems, practice resilience, and live your inner strength, personal power, and integrity. Our programs can help you:

-Stop saying yes when you really mean no
-Have more fulfilling and happier relationships

Why Horses? Unlike humans horses are prey animals. As such, they are constantly aware of others and their surroundings. Instinctively, as prey animals, their survival depends on their ability to sense any underlying emotional current in their environment. They use their animal wisdom - keen sense of smell, hearing, body awareness, and vigilance - to keep them safe. They are fully present in the moment and require us to get out of our heads and be fully present. Horses are powerful messengers that mirror back their direct experience of humans. They are completely congruent and authentic with what they experience – in other words, what they show on the outside matches what they feel on the inside. They don’t deny or mask their feelings and our masks/personas don’t fool them. Like humans, horses are herd animals and rely on each other for safety and survival. Whether clients are engaged in individual or group activities, interacting with horses provides an opportunity to work on dynamics related to relationships, isolation, asking for help, and one’s role in the human herd. Areas that are commonly addressed include boundaries, assertiveness, trust, powerlessness, and frustration tolerance. All Stand InBalance professionals are EAGALA certified. This month we're sharing our 11 step Roadmap to ! Here's step #4:
LOVE YOURSELF. Taking good care of yourself and maintaining a positive relationship with yourself is a great way to strengthen your resilience. Life is hard enough as it is without making yourself your own enemy. Be kind to yourself! Give yourself the love and respect that you need and deserve. Sure, you might have made a mistake or done something you regret; it’s important to recognize and own any mistakes made in order to learn from them, but that’s as far as it should go. Give yourself grace and the opportunity to make any necessary changes, while acknowledging the things you ARE doing and what IS working for you. Give yourself credit for the all of the good parts of you and focus on your strengths. Say nice things to yourself, out loud or in your head. Take care of your body, your mind and your heart. If you learn how to love yourself and be there for yourself, then you will always have someone in your corner cheering you on when things get rough – YOU!

“Lu’s Corner” Toy & Treat test series, Episode 2 - The Rubber Chicken (+ mint). Lu has played with a chicken like this before & he had a lot of fun swirling it around in the past, but what with all the new treats & tastes he’s been experiencing with the Likit, etc. he seems to have gotten spoiled by treats lately. Today he wasn’t so into the chicken by itself so we tried a treat combo to pique his interest. It took a minute but he was successful in the end 😅 Lu gives the chicken a 6 but the mint is a 10🐴🍬
Thank you for sending Lu this fun gift for him to test! If anyone is wondering how they can send Lu & the herd gifts to test, check out their wishlist in the comments. www.standinbalance.com

This month we're sharing our 11 step Roadmap to ! Here's step #3:
LISTEN FOR YOUR INTUITION. Listen for your Intuition. We have to know where we are in order to get where we want to go. If we are moving too fast, we can easily miss important cues from our inner wisdom. We must keep checking back in with ourselves to see how we’re doing along the way. Take regular moments to practice mindfulness and pay attention to what you are doing, what you are saying, how you are feeling physically, emotionally or otherwise. When we become hyper focused or get blinded by a goal, we can easily ignore important information from our intuition about the best course of action. But if we take time to listen to ourselves and what our gut instincts are telling us, we can find guidance and make informed healthy choices about when to take a break, shift gears, let go, or press forward. The more we pay attention to ourselves the easier it is to hear our intuition.

This month we're sharing our 11 step Roadmap to ! Here's step #2:
CONNECT WITH RENEWAL. Life is not stagnant, change is all around us and renewal is a constant law of the universe. We see it everywhere – in nature, in our own bodies, our breath, in the passage of time. Everything keeps moving forward, ebbing and flowing like the ocean. This can be a stressful concept or a liberating and empowering one, depending on how we look at it. When we stop to realize and remember that the present moment is constantly starting over and renewing itself we become aware of opportunity and infinite possibility. Each moment has the opportunity for something new to be born. Every second, every blink of the eye, every breath. This energy never stops. It never stops flowing – it only changes and transforms. So, when you feel stuck or stopped by the pitfalls of life, tap into this unlimited energy source and allow yourself to start anew. All you need to do is remember and recognize that this present moment that you are in is a brand new moment, and so is this next one, and this one, and now. Forever and ever renewed.

Lu’s 1st Review for what we’re calling “Lu’s Corner” - The Likit! 10 out of 10 would recommend! Full disclosure, it took him a minute to figure it out, Lady had to show him what to do, but now he’s all about it. This one has been great for him to keep him a little busy (and everybody likes them that has been able to get a taste). We go through them pretty quickly, but they come in a lot of different flavors so Lu’s looking forward to trying them all & finding his favorite. enrichmentactivities horseenrichment horselife therapyhorse www.standinbalance.com

HERD UPDATE: A big inspiration for this month's theme of Resilience, has been our big boy, Lucius. He recently went through a harrowing experience with an extremely painful (and scary) injury. He is stable now, but not without more challenge as he enters a long recovery. Lu's ability to find resilience within himself and adapt to his new circumstances has surprised and elated us all.

Just before Thanksgiving, Lu tore and dislocated the superficial digital flexor tendon in his left hind leg. The experience was quite terrifying for him as he had no idea why he was having so much horrible pain. It was touch and go for a little while. Initially, he was so terrified and reactive, and his entire leg was so swollen, that it wasn't possible for the vet to get close enough to him to diagnose what was happening. Finally, after a lot of close attention, care and medical support, he was able to stay calm enough for a diagnosis. His initial prognosis was quite poor. However, we weren't ready to give up and neither was he; we decided to see if he could handle long-term stall rest, likely up to a year, to heal the tear.

Lu is such and extrovert that we were very worried about how and if he would be able handle the change (and boredom) of stall rest...especially with the added challenge of previously not being able to be on anti-inflammatory medications since his allergic reaction and brush with death 10 years ago. At first, he refused to eat any of his medications. He clearly thought they tasted terrible; after cutting them up into small pieces with plenty of "equine senior" and other flavors he likes, he has become very enthusiastic and compliant with his medication protocol - whew! We are keeping a very close eye on him and his lab values and so far he is doing great!

We're sure he is channeling some of his mom, Condina, who had the same type tear herself and was able to heal after she was on stall rest for literally a year!

It feels like a miracle the way that Lu has been able to adapt to his circumstances when we think back to his original prognosis and our fear that a recovery wouldn't be possible. However, he has been handling it better than we imagined and clearly appreciates being set up like royalty in the outer corner stall where he can see everything that is going on around him. His "Lady" is almost constantly by his side and herd members take turns coming and sharing space next to him.

In an effort to keep him from getting restless and to keep his VERY active self entertained and calm, we have been working hard on creating enrichment experiences for him. He enjoys playing with toys and having clients stop by to say hello. He has also adopted a new role as "Toy & Treat Reviewer", which he finds much purpose in and is a natural. We'll be sharing some of his reviews on here, too.
We'll be keeping you updated on his journey ❤️

This month we're sharing our 11 step Roadmap to ! Here's step #1:
REST AND RECOVER. If you’ve had a setback, it is crucial to rest. Whether in the case of a physical injury, emotional trauma or any big event that forces you to stop what you were doing; allowing time and space for rest is incredibly important. Even when things seem to be going along swimmingly, rest and restful moments are equally as important to keep you going! Everything benefits from rest, whether it’s a long deep respite when reserves are tapped or short breaks to rejuvenate and propel us forward. We must create and maintain balance between expending energy and restoring it.
When we rest, we are cultivating the energy of allowing – allowing space, allowing quiet, allowing freedom, allowing healing, allowing simplicity, allowing clarity, allowing renewal, allowing grace, allowing truth, allowing love, allowing inner wisdom. Truly allowing a state of rest means we LET things happen FOR us as opposed to trying or forcing or controlling; it also means being OK with “nothing” happening at all. It can take patience to surrender to true rest, but it is always worth it. Once we’ve rested, we not only have more energy but we have more clarity, perspective, wisdom, strength and direction – we have regained everything that we’ve allowed to naturally return to us, resourced and recharged. Rest is a powerful choice and there is great power in resting.
