Focusband is taking the secret to golf skill practice to the next level with their neurocombine. Neurocombine accelerates physical and mental performance. Block practice is a good way to learn a new skill but then after that there are more effecient ways to prepare for competition. Here is a link that explains block practice and the benefits of random practice: http://www.protourgolfcollege.com/news-blog/who-else-wants-to-learn-the-golf-practice-secret-that-transfers-your-golf-skills-from-golf-range-to-golf-course-faster

Here is a link to Virgil Herring on Golf Channel explaining the focusband routine. I do not suggest that you try to zoom in and focus so hard with your eyes. The key is that the eyes are still. Research on quiet eye shows that this is best done by balancing being relaxed and alert and DIRECTING YOUR AWARENESS (VISUALIZATION, MENTAL IMAGERY) to what you WANT. Look at the ball; aware of your target. http://www.golfchannel.com/media/herring-improve-your-focus-focusband/

Mental Toughness at Wakonda Tennis Club in Des Moines, Iowa
David and Christian Barbieri (2016 midwest conference champion) were mentally tough for this year's rematch beating Jim and I 6-3! They were ready for the one serve rule!!! I also got a chance to play with Casi and Gracie and attend Bunny Bruning's cardio tennis drill! After our matches, I had a chance to help Gracie with visualizing her target, body awareness and how they all relate to being in the zone or Mushin state. We used the neurofeedback device, Focusband to validate what worked for her. Gracie is a natural and I imagine if she keeps up her mental practice she will have her best season ever! Christian shared his mental game advice: always state what you want in positive language! Christian asked for advice and was open to playing the edge, agreeing to try an energy exercise called "push, push back" from ITP's Leonard Energy Training. If Christian continues on this track, he is sure to face his rivals with the profound power of centering!!! I'll need to take my own advice and prepare for next year's matches at Wakonda Tennis Club.

I was catching up on February 2016 issue of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology. Seems the research article, "LOWER left temporal frontal connectivity characterizes expert and accurate performance...." supports the idea of quieting the thinking (left) brain. The research reminds us that with extensive practice, athletes can learn to control movement with reduced conscious awareness (automatic and implicit control of movement). In fact, the study showed that performance especially among experts is impaired by conscious processing (technique thoughts; verbal interference). There advice to golfers, ..."concentrate, but (do) not take conscious control of movements, when preparing for crucial putts." My advice is to use intention, imagination and visualization! Choose your target and see the ball going to your target!! Let me know how it goes by emailing integral@earthlink.net

Here is a brief summary of my sports mindset program. I use a comprehensive assessment to understand your strengths and areas for improvement. Then relaxation and visualization exercises help clients create a vision and goals that relate to an internal change in one's self. Next, I introduce directing attention (focus) and positive self-talk; close behind is self-awareness as a more advanced, complex and possibly the most powerful mindset practice. Once you get into practicing these 6 keys to a positive mindset, you notice how interrelated they are to one another. Then I will lead and guide you in sports mindset exercises and bringing out the best in you!!!
