Low energy, mental fog, or emotional heaviness can often linger after a mood episode in bipolar disorder. Even as symptoms improve, recovery may take time and can feel slower than expected.
A person who is usually focused and active may notice difficulty concentrating, reduced motivation, or feeling mentally drained. While this can sometimes be mistaken for stress or burnout, it may also reflect the brain and body recovering after a mood shift.
Recognizing these patterns is an important step toward healing. Allowing time for rest, maintaining routines, and seeking support can play a key role in restoring balance and long-term stability.
If you, or someone you know, is living with bipolar disorder, additional support and research opportunities may be available.
Westlake Brain health is currently enrolling volunteers for a paid clinical trial focused on bipolar depression.
Participants may receive study-related care at no cost and compensation for time and travel.
