Women hold just 29% of C-suite roles, highlighting the ongoing gap in executive leadership.

Hegira Health Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications Katherine Grisson, pictured with panelist Suzanne Shank, attended the Crain's Detroit Business Power Breakfast: Women Who Mean Business, where some of Detroit’s top women executives came together to share insights on navigating today’s C-suite challenges and opportunities.

The discussion highlighted the importance of strong leadership, resilience, and creating space for more women at the decision-making table—because representation truly matters.

At Hegira Health, we’re inspired by conversations like these as we continue working to build stronger, more inclusive systems of care for our community.

SEMCA Michigan Works, a non-profit Michigan Works! agency providing workforce development, job training, and human services in Monroe and Wayne counties (excluding the City of Detroit), marked 30 years of connecting people, businesses and communities to opportunity. From expanding access to training programs to strengthening community partnerships, SEMCA continues to play a vital role in economic growth across southeast Michigan.

Hegira Health’s Katherine Grisson attended the SEMCA 30th Anniversary Celebration, joining fellow community leaders in recognizing this milestone and celebrating the power of collaboration. Partnerships like these are essential to advancing whole-person care, connecting individuals not only to behavioral health services, but also to meaningful employment, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

We’re proud to support and collaborate with organizations like SEMCA that help individuals and families build brighter, healthier futures.

Nearly 1 in 3 educators report experiencing high levels of stress and burnout, impacting both their well-being and their ability to support students.

That’s why prioritizing mental health in our schools is essential. Burnout, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion are real challenges facing staff every day.

Hegira Health was proud to lead the first session of the Staff Wellness Series with Wayne-Westland Community Schools, providing tools and strategies to help staff manage stress, build resilience, and support their overall well-being.

Hegira Health School-Based Coordinator Saja Alkhafaji (right) and Program Manager, Community & Staff Training Amy Ostrand (center), pictured with Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications Katherine Grisson (left), presented “Recognizing & Managing Stress and Burnout.”

We value the partnership between the Wayne-Westland Community Schools and Hegira Health. Working together helps strengthen and support both of our teams, while also expanding the resources available to the broader community we serve!

Nearly 40% of teens report persistent sadness or hopelessness, and about 1 in 3 struggle with anxiety, a growing concern for families everywhere.

With social media now a daily part of teen life, its impact on mental wellness is complex. While it can foster connection, excessive use—especially passive scrolling—has been linked to increased risk of depression, anxiety, and sleep disruption.

In her latest The News-Herald column, Hegira Health CEO Carol Zuniga shares insights on what today’s teens are experiencing and how parents can support healthier habits and open conversations. Read more here: https://www.thenewsherald.com/2026/03/04/column-social-media-and-teen-mental-wellness/

At Hegira Health, we’re here to help. If your teen is struggling, our Behavioral Health Urgent Care offers walk-in support 7 days a week because early support can make all the difference. Visit hegirahealth.org/bhuc for more information.

Hegira Health was proud to sponsor the 15th Annual Salute to Service Weekend at USA Hockey Arena, honoring the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of our veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families.

More than 5,200 attendees came together in a powerful show of gratitude and community support. We thank those who have served and the loved ones who stand beside them.

Honoring our heroes means more than words—it means showing up, fostering connection, and ensuring veterans and their families feel seen, valued, and supported.

At Hegira Health, we’re committed to standing with those who have served by connecting individuals and families to compassionate behavioral health and substance use support. If you or a loved one needs support, we’re here to help. Call 734-793-5026 to learn more.

Gambling addiction affects millions of Americans each year, yet many go untreated due to stigma and lack of awareness.

Sr. Director of SUD Services Salvatore Russo joined Jay Scott Smith and Priya Mann in the WDIV Local 4 / ClickOnDetroit studios yesterday to raise awareness about the warning signs of problem gambling, including secrecy with spending, irritability, and mood changes connected to winning or losing.

What often goes unseen is how closely gambling addiction is linked to anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges, making early support even more critical.

At Hegira Health, we provide compassionate, confidential care to address both problem gambling and the mental health conditions that often come with it.

If you or someone you love is struggling, don’t wait. Help is here. Visit hegirahealth.org/sud to get connected to support today.

Hegira Health, a proud leader in law enforcement and behavioral health coordinated services across Western Wayne County, was awarded a 24-month $3.2M contract with the County of Wayne for the implementation and development of a regional coordinated system to ensure persons in our community who engage with law enforcement and present with post-overdose, mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders, receive appropriate, timely assessment and access to behavioral healthcare. This contract expands services with the 9 municipalities with which Hegira Health currently contracts and offers the opportunity to expand services to additional communities as the program is implemented and grows.

Thank you to the Wayne County Commission for recognizing the value of these services in our community. Thank you to Tara King and Dr. Avani Sheth for nearly three years of conversations and planning. Your perseverance and commitment to this project have enabled Hegira Health to make a greater impact in our community.
