Dear Friend,
After taking time to integrate my recent 3-month pilgrimage through Western Europe, I now feel ready to gift wrap one of my most pivotal stories from this expansive journey and offer it to you.
My partner and I began this life-changing endeavor with a month traveling in Spain and settling in the indigenous Basque Country. Afterwards, we explored Southern France and spent time visiting with friends in the countryside. From there, we journeyed to England and completed our adventure with 3 weeks in Ireland.
The story I wish to share with you the most is the one regarding Mary Magdalene.
For many years Mary Magdalene has been with me in subtle ways. From reading books about her to placing a woolen doll of her on my altar. Having my long-awaited desire to visit her cave in Southern France fulfilled (where it’s said she spent the remaining years of her life) was a blessing. While in her cave, I felt as if I was in the womb of the Earth herself, where many seeds of love were planted from the hearts of thousands of devotional pilgrims over nearly two millennium - an experience I will cherish forever.
But the peak moment of this story doesn’t take place in her cave. It’s actually located hundreds of miles away from it in a small town in England called Glastonbury, widely referred to as the mythical realm of Avalon. It’s a legendary place of pilgrimage rich in history and legend, dating back to the time of the Druids. A place where my heart felt as if it finally landed home (interestingly - where many generations of my English ancestors found it home as well, living just an hour from it).
Upon “randomly” wandering into a small gift shop, fresh lilies bathed me in their fragrance as evening sunlight shone through crystal statues of different deities. As if being drawn by a magnetic force, I went directly towards the back of the shop and there it was - a black statue of Mary Magdalene nestled on a shrine dedicated just to her.
Suddenly, waves of awe and love moved through my body, sending tingles up my spine as if an invisible angel embraced me with its wings. The force shifted something within, where I started sobbing uncontrollably (in front of several other shoppers).
A lovely British retail lady came to me with her honeyed voice and offered a hug. She told me that emotional releases were common for pilgrims that are called to Avalon. Because it’s a place which contains high vibrational energy with two of the earth’s energy meridians (ley lines) crossing over the land. And if the timing is ripe, it can cause light codes to become activated in our DNA, bringing us into a state of deep remembrance of our Divine Nature. And with Avalon being known as the land of the Goddess, it targets the awakening of the oppressed frequency of the Divine Feminine.
Later, I learned that there’s a legend that Mary Magdalene also had lived in Avalon. Finding safety from the persecutors of Rome with help from the Druids.
Ever since my apparent light code activation in that little shop, I’ve felt a strong call to share with others everything I’ve learned about Mary Magdalene's lesser-known story. From being falsely accused as a pr******te, to her role as a myrrh-bearer priestess, and as the Divine Feminine counterpart to the Divine Masculine.
Since I’ve returned home, I’ve been focused on this new calling. I created a 1.5-hour slideshow revealing Mary Magdalene’s story from the Biblical Gospels, the Gnostic Gospels, folklore and legends, ritualistic practices designed to activate the Divine Feminine within - including a variety of events for it all to be shared with you!
If you feel called to attend, please see the link below for a list of Mary Magdalene events to choose from and stay tuned for a virtual one for those who aren’t local! You will also see a variety of other offerings that are designed to foster the medicine that comes from connecting with community and remembering your Divine Nature.
With blessings and servitude,
your friend,
Shannon
P.S.
I asked my parents to do some digging into my ancestry. Shortly after I left Avalon, they told me that my great great grandmother’s name was Mary Magdalene with her mother’s name being Magdalena and her mother’s name being Magdalin. If I didn’t trust this calling before, this new discovery cemented it. Her memory is literally encoded in my DNA.
