As an infectious disease office, we strive to stay up to date on all treatment options available to our patients for complicated diseases. Last night, a few of our providers and support staff learned about additional options for patients that have Mycobacterium avium complex. MAC is a serious lung infection from bacteria that can be found in soil, dust and water. Those with weakened immune systems and over the age of 65; however, younger patients have also been affected by this. See the links below for additional information.

We are now out of masks for this morning's distribution. Masks will be available at libraries next week. We will share more details as they become available.

The Health Department will be distributing a limited number of KN95 masks tomorrow, Friday, January 21st, at the Ag Center by drive-through. Pick up will be between 9 am and 11 am or as long as supplies last. More masks will be available around the county starting next week.

Please turn into Agricultural Center Drive off of Gist Road and follow signs to the parking lot in front of the testing site (Shipley Arena). Please drive with care and keep our staff safe!

People may get 4 masks per person or up to 12 per household. We may have to limit quantities further if supplies run low early.

KN95 masks will also be available starting next week at all library branches, while supplies last. The government will also be distributing free KN95 or N95 masks through pharmacies starting in late January-early February.

As providers in the community, we are seeing the overwhelming volumes and stress that it's placing on our health care systems.

What can you do to help?

- continue social distancing when in public
-wear a mask in public
-remain home when you are feeling ill

And as always, the best way to help is to get vaccinated along with your booster shot within the appropriate time frame.
