Maryland Cannabis Physicians will provide patients with the evaluation to obtain their medical marijuana card or cannabis card. The process for obtaining a cannabis card is first to make sure that the patient has a medical diagnosis which qualifies for medical cannabis. The medical conditions that could qualify a patient for medical marijuana treatment are listed below or on the Commissions websit
e (mmcc.maryland.gov). These are the medical conditions for which the commission will consider for a medical marijuana card (cannabis card):
Cachexia (wasting syndrome)
Severe, debilitating, or chronic pain
Severe nausea
Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy
Severe and persistent muscle spasms
Multiple sclerosis
Crohn’s disease
Alzheimer’s
Cancer
Glaucoma
HIV/AIDS
Hepatitis C
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Also considered is any condition that is severe, for which other medical treatments have been ineffective, and if the symptoms “reasonably can be expected to be relieved” by the medical use of Cannabis. We provide medical evaluations and write a letter of recommendation that is presented to the Maryland Commission and it is up to the commission to make the final decision. We will help clarify or alter our documentation for the commission if required by the commission in support of the patient’s situation and to facilitate the process of eligible patients to receive medical marijuana card.
