We’re thrilled to invite you to the very first Carolina Mushroom Festival, taking place at the beautiful Briar Patch in Westminster. This unique event is our way of bringing together mycologists, makers, families, and fungi lovers for a weekend of education, connection, and earthy celebration; all rooted in sustainability. At the heart of our festival is a passion for collaboration and education. We’ve gathered some of the Southeast’s most respected mycologists, along with fresh, lesser-known voices in the field, to lead hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and guided forest walks. Whether you’re a seasoned forager or just curious about the mushroom world, there’s something here for everyone to learn and explore. We’re proud to say this is a family-friendly event, with plenty to do for kids and adults alike. Children can look forward to nature-based activities, crafts, and interactive learning opportunities, while adults can dive into the science and magic of mushrooms; or explore our vibrant vendor village, featuring local artisans, small businesses, and food trucks from around the region. As part of our mission, the Carolina Mushroom Festival is also a green, zero-waste event. Aluminum water bottles will be given out to all attendees, and all compostable waste collected during the weekend will be inoculated with mushroom spores and returned to the Earth, turning waste into growth - just as fungi do naturally. Sustainability isn’t just a theme for us; it’s a commitment. We’re honored to be hosted by Kind Spore, a South Carolina company known for their delicious and functional adaptogenic mushroom blends. Throughout the festival, you’ll have the opportunity to try their unique drink creations made with mushrooms like lion’s mane, reishi, chaga, and more; all designed to support wellness, focus, and balance in everyday life. Our goal is simple: to grow a community around fungi. One that’s inclusive, educational, and joyful. Whether you’re here to learn, connect, shop, or just enjoy a fun day with your family, we can’t wait to welcome you to the forest.
