Randy Brodersen was given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Alliance Summit in Breckenridge this past week. Randy’s efforts in working with the Colorado State Legislature were highlighted. The work he has done with our state congress and representatives over many years has paved the way to waitlist reductions and numerous rate increases. These increases have allowed agencies to provide a living wage to employees and service providers and benefited people with IDD throughout the State of Colorado.

Get ready to celebrate with us! North Metro Community Services is thrilled to announce our 60th anniversary serving the Adams County community, and we want you and your family to join in the festivities!

Every age deserves fun, and so there will be activities for both children and adults to enjoy. We will also include a peek into North Metro’s history of six decades. No celebration is complete without food, so one meal per person will be provided. Event information is below.

Due to weather and safety concerns North Metro Community Services Day Program will be cancelled tomorrow Thursday March 14th. NMCS staff will be working remotely and reachable by phone or email.

CMA Transition and Eligibility
With NMCS transitioned from doing case management for people with IDD we are aware that there have been many struggles with people maintaining contact with the services they need. The issues that are a problem are being addressed by Health Care Policy and Financing(HCPF) and the current Case Management Agencies. Though we expect things to get better the timelines are still uncertain and it is expected that it will take some time before things are normalized.
One major complicating factor was the end of the Public Health Emergency (PHE) that was declared in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the PHE the redetermination of Medicaid benefits was suspended. This means that for over 3 years people did not have to go through the process of showing that they were financially eligible to receive Medicaid benefits. When the PHE ended in May that redetermination process restarted. This has created a ton of work at the county level where these are done and a lot of confusion among people receiving these benefits, especially when they hadn’t had to complete this process for 3 years. Many people lost their eligibility and are still struggling to get reinstated.
NMCS is still here and is able to assist people with the IDD in Adams County. If you have lost eligibility or are struggling with completing the required documentation for redetermination NMCS can assist you with this process. This help is available to all individuals with IDD and their families in Adams County regardless of your connection with any of the NMCS direct service programs (Residential, Day, SLS, CES). This resource is available in both English and Spanish.
