For anyone who hasn't heard, Bill passed last night at 7:00 pm. We have a meeting with the funeral home in Westmont at 10 am tomorrow, we are not sure on a day but are planning on a one day service there with a burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. We will tell everyone when we know the details. Mom is doing well.

Ruthann, Billy, Phil and Erin took Bill to the VA this afternoon for a meeting. He has been declining a lot in the last few weeks and had a scan a week ago, the results were not good news. The cancer has spread throughout his stomach. We went there to talk about hospice care. It was decided to stop some medications and add in more painkillers to make him as comfortable as possible. No definitive timeline has been established, but every week is precious. Ruthann and Bill could use whatever support they can get. Bill is tired but in good shape, considering. If you were thinking of a visit, sooner would be better. He likes vanilla malts or shakes :)

After the appointment we all went out for a nice lunch at Portillo's, and everyone is in good spirits.

Took dad out to get the paper with his walker today, stopped and chatted with the neighbors. Trying to get back to normal.

Kept him up for 2.5 hours but finally beat him at trivial pursuit.

Seems like Dad has turned a corner!
He is eating more and is able to move around by himself with the walker. Can get himself dressed. So he’s coming home tomorrow, Friday, December 17th. 
Prayers for a smooth transition and that he’ll get finally a good nights sleep tomorrow night in his own house.

Today he started his regular physical therapy sessions and took 160 steps! 😃 yay Said he gets excited when the PT people walk thru his door because they do good work.
His confidence is growing and he is getting a bit stronger.

Still not eating a whole lot, but we are hopeful that will come soon. Whenever any of us visit, we usually have a banana milk shake for him to sip on. He tolerates Muscle Milk better than Ensure.

Dad finally got to the new place tonight around 9pm and is settled in.
Now the work begins.
Pray for his appetite to come back and that he will gain his strength back as well.
