Berenice is a therapist who works with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, OCD, and past experiences that still feel stuck. She utilizes CBT, DBT, EMDR, and ERP—approaches that are highly effective in helping people move out of patterns that feel difficult to break, such as overthinking, avoidance, or persistent intrusive thoughts.

Many of the individuals she works with are accustomed to “pushing through” or trying to think their way out of what they’re feeling, which often doesn’t provide lasting relief. In therapy, she focuses on slowing things down and getting to the root of these experiences. Through EMDR, she helps clients process experiences that the brain hasn’t fully worked through. With ERP, she supports clients in gradually facing fears and building tolerance so those fears no longer take control.

Her style is collaborative and down-to-earth. She actively engages in sessions—offering guidance, thoughtful challenges when helpful, and steady support through difficult moments. Clients don’t need to have everything figured out before starting; feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or tired of repeating the same patterns is enough to begin.

As April comes to a close, it’s a good time for a gentle check-in with yourself 🌿

How are you really doing—emotionally, mentally, and physically?
What felt heavy this month? What felt manageable? What do you need more of as you move into May?

There’s no need for perfection—just awareness, compassion, and small steps forward. Healing isn’t linear, and checking in with yourself is always enough of a start.

We’re here with you. 💛

National Stress Awareness Month

Here are a few simple strategies you can try:
1️⃣ Pause and breathe - Take a moment for slow, deep breaths. Even 60 seconds can help reset your nervous system.
2️⃣ Name what you’re feeling - Putting emotions into words (“I’m feeling overwhelmed” or “I’m anxious”) can reduce their intensity.
3️⃣ Break tasks into smaller steps - Big responsibilities feel more manageable when you focus on just the next small action.
4️⃣ Move your body - A short walk, stretching, or any movement you enjoy can help release built-up tension.
5️⃣ Limit overwhelm where you can - Take breaks from news/social media and give yourself permission to step away when needed.

💬 Small, consistent habits can make stress easier to navigate over time. Be kind to yourself.

Working in mental health and healthcare means showing up for others, often during high-stress moments. Your well-being matters too.

Here are a few quick reminders to support your own regulation and resilience:
1️⃣ Pause between sessions - Even 2–5 minutes to breathe, stretch, or reset can help prevent emotional carryover.
2️⃣ Check in with your body - Notice tension, hunger, fatigue, or shallow breathing. Your body often signals stress before your mind does.
3️⃣ Set realistic emotional boundaries - You can be empathic without absorbing every emotion in the room.
4️⃣ Use brief grounding tools during the day - Try box breathing, 5-4-3-2-1 sensory grounding, or a short mindful walk.
5️⃣ Debrief and decompress intentionally -Connect with a colleague, journal briefly, or create a transition ritual at the end of the day.

💬 Caring for others starts with caring for yourself.

Happy National Exercise Day! Working out can be a challenge but also a great way for our whole body to learn different forms of movement to increase one's cognitive abilities (Edlund, 2017).

Learning may not involve just the brain, but the body as a whole. :)

When the days get hotter, it may be beneficial to stay hydrated. Dr. Drinko (2025) studies how drinking enough water each day can help relieve anxiety and depression by reducing headaches and fatigue.

At Grace Integrated, it is integral to explore how taking care of the body, mind, and soul fosters growth and well-being :)

We love connecting with our community! 💙

This past weekend, our team had a great time attending Healthy Kids Day at the Tri-Town YMCA—sharing resources, meeting families, and supporting youth wellness.

We’re excited to continue participating in more local events and providing accessible mental health education. If you’re interested in having one of our clinicians present on a mental health topic or be part of an upcoming community event, we’d love to connect!

About Us

As 2020 begins, I sit and contemplate the importance of therapy for families today. Where were I be personally without it? How would my children lives be different if my husband and I did not make personal growth a priority? What patterns of chaos would be happening daily in my home, in my marriage, and with the people I cherish most because of unconscious patters of dysfunction I am repeating from my own childhood because “I do not know any better.” Today, I insist on knowing better, so I can do better. That is what therapy offers to people. Have you heard the old adage, “they did the best they knew how,” as a way to reconcile how terrible older generations did at parenting. Albeit true for most, they did the best they knew how, except the best was typically abusive, traumatic, emotionally insensitive and detached. Those generational traumas being passed down decade after decade, leaving us to lean on adages like “they did they best they knew how,” as a way to cope with our own wounds. My husband and I refuse to accept the ignorance of that statement. And instead, chose on a weekly basis through our own therapy to demand a better way for us, and as an extension, our children. Grace Integrated offers to our clients a better way. Our clinicians do their own therapy, so they can help you carve out a path for your own life that is full of awareness. You no longer have to struggle, fight, and feel detached from your own life. Therapy offers a new, better way. As the founder of Grace Integrated, I advocate so fully for everyone to experience therapy because “doing the best they could,” is not best at all. Grace Integrated is a family owned and run business dedicated to healing the wounds of generations, so that we promote the new generation of best. A generation of families taught secure attachments through emotional sensitivity, parental responsiveness and unconditional love. Come and join us as it is never too late to live your best life.
