I’ve met and brushed Beauty.this is a wonderful horse, a loving soul.

Beauty interrupts the non-stop stream of to let everyone know she is still looking for her right match.

Beauty (USTA Strapping Beauty) is coming 23, limited to short rides unless she receives additional maintenance for her right stifle, and requires a handler with some experience. She fits perfectly a description we will borrow from Polo Pony Rescue: Beginner safe when handled by professionals. Anyone can groom her. She'll pony a kid around. She's been ridden by youth and beginner adults before coming to us. But she will test and try what she can get away with on the ground and has strong opinions, which TBH, a lady her age is entitled to, to a point. ;-)

Beauty would love a sponsor or 2 to assist with her basic care. She is an easy keeper on Tribute Kalm N EZ and is on a 6-week hoof trim schedule. If you'd like to help, our PayPal/Zelle is contact@safeharborsanctuary.org

Sharing a little horse sense for cold - make that freezing temperatures. Please take care of yourself and your herd.

With the predicted single-digit temperatures, we're going to take a minute to revisit some "cold weather horsekeeping" tips.

☃️ Do NOT make any sudden changes in feed. Bran mash is not a good, nutritional addition for your horse. Adding warm water to their regular grain ration is a much better option.

☃️ Room temperature water: Either with a tank heater, insulated buckets, or water from your house. An average horse should be drinking 10-12 gallons a day. Dehydration can lead to colic.

☃️ Hay, hay, hay. Digesting hay keeps your horse warm. Hay needs increase in colder temperatures.

☃️ Salt. Salt encourages water consumption. Provide a salt lick, free choice loose salt, or table salt on your horse's feed. *Talk with your veterinarian if you have any questions about feeding your specific horse.

☃️ Wind break. Even if they have the option to go into a barn, many horses will choose to be 'outdoors' in the cold - but they may want a break from the wind and seek out the leeward side of a building or stand of trees.

☃️ Blanketing. Sunday night is not the time to throw a blanket on a horse that's never seen one before. Plan ahead, desensitize, and make sure you have one that fits well to avoid injury. Blanketing takes away your horse's ability to "p**f" the hair coat and self-warm, so if you blanket, make sure the fill is appropriate for the air temperature. Adding a sheet or a 100 gram blanket when it is 8 degrees outside will potentially make your horse colder than he'd be if left alone.

Champagne Problems is still searching for her person! She is a super nice and personable morgan mare in her 20s who is good for the vet and farrier. She is a super in your pocket lover girl who just wants a person of her own to give her a little attention every day. Champaign has foundered in her past but is managed on diet, exercise and a daily medication. She requires a little effort but this mare is super worth it!

If you or someone you know is interested in Champagne, please fill out an adoption application on our website at https://www.hopeslegacy.com/adoptionapplication

The woman that brought Reiki to America. Happy heavenly birthday.

Hawayo Hiromi Kawamura Takata (24 December 1900 – 11 December 1980)

45 years ago today, Hawayo Takata passed through the veil separating this world and that of the ancestors, less than two weeks before her eightieth birthday.

45 years earlier (11 December 1935), Takata was attending her second day of Reiki training at the Hayashi Reiki Kenkyūkai, learning the spiritual therapy to which she would then dedicate her life.

Her 45 years of devotion to Reiki transformed the practice from an obscure Japanese healing art to one poised to become a truly global phenomenon with millions of practitioners worldwide.

If Reiki has touched your life or the life of someone you love, take a moment to remember this remarkable woman and express gratitude for her hard work that made this all possible 🙏

THE TESTIMONIAL THAT STARTED YOUNG LIVING

“How many of you have ever experienced pain in your life? Have you ever taken painkillers? And then you try to function afterwards. What do they do to your brain? I know about that because after my accident, I was on morphine for three straight years, and then I was on different forms of oxycodone and codeine for seven years. I didn’t know if I was coming or going. It was crazy. I was on antidepressants for seven years because of the terrible depression I was experiencing.

In the accident, I had three open skull fractures, and then I got meningitis lying in the hospital. I had 16 crushed vertebrae, 11 ruptured disks, 19 broken bones, and my spinal cord was herniated in two locations. The surgeon told my parents that if a butcher had taken a meat cleaver and gone down the right side of my body and sheared off every bone, he couldn’t have done a better job than the tree that hit me.

So, I’m back together and I function better than a lot of 40 year olds, and it’s because of the vigor essential oils have brought into my life.”
