“We’re here to give you hope and encouragement” 💙

For about a year now, our therapist Jason Vrusho has been leading a weekly creative writing workshop at CRR, paired with an open mic competition twice each month. What started as a simple idea—putting pen to paper and giving people a space to share—has become something much more powerful. One of the most meaningful moments for us is hearing someone say, “I’ve never written anything in my life… and now I consider myself a writer.” David F. was one of those people. When he first walked through our doors, he had never written a poem before. By the end of his stay, he was writing multiple poems a day and routinely sharing them with the community that had become his audience. His poem, “One Day at a Time,” is one of those pieces. We’re proud to share it with you now 💙

Carried feelings often come from the people around us and somewhere along the way we begin holding them as if they’re our own. So how do we move forward? By learning to separate what’s truly ours from what isn’t, creating clear boundaries around what we can and can’t carry, and responding to others’ emotions without absorbing them. 💙

Let’s talk about something powerful: Letting Go vs. Moving On. They sound similar — but they’re not the same. Understanding the difference changes everything.
Ready to release what’s holding you back and step into what’s next?

Every week we hear new stories about the ways our alumni stay connected — Friendsgiving dinners, twenty-person golf outings, big groups showing up for meetings together. Our alumni don’t just stay sober. They show up for one another. And they continue to show up for the community here at Charles River. Alumni Coffee Hour is one more way we keep that connection alive — and we’re bringing it back. If you’re a CRR alum and want to join us on the third Saturday of each month, email Craig at cbellemare@charlesriverrecovery.com to get involved. Coffee. Camaraderie. Recovery 💙☕️

The Moment. Episode 2

02/18/2026

A year and a half ago, our partnership with introduced us to what has since become one of the most popular activities we hold each month at Charles River Recovery.
Betsy Salsman of .Soul is a sound healer whose meditative practice focuses on gently calming the parasympathetic nervous system—the part of the body responsible for rest, regulation, and repair. When the nervous system settles, new neural pathways can begin to form, helping to rewire unhealthy habits, release stuck energy, process emotions, and support healing from trauma through meditation. The instruments Betsy uses are designed to stimulate different densities and frequencies within the body, creating a soundscape that makes it nearly effortless to reach a meditative state. Sound healing is another powerful tool our community uses in their healing journey.
