Accelerated puberty is something many people don’t talk about enough, yet it can shape how adolescents experience themselves and their relationships in powerful ways. When development happens earlier than expected, it can influence how young people navigate school, friendships, and self-image during a time that is already emotionally complex.

Support matters. Open conversations, mental health education, and supportive environments can make a meaningful difference for young people navigating these changes.

At Weston Family Psychology, we understand that every student learns differently. That’s why it’s important to know the difference between an IEP and a 504 Plan—both are designed to support students with disabilities, but in different ways. We work closely with families and schools to help students get the support they need, from understanding eligibility to advocating for accommodations. Our goal is to help every student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. 💡

If your child could benefit from an IEP or 504 Plan, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Contact us at 954-384-1117 or intake-coordinator@westonfamilypsychology.com to explore how we can support you! 🌞

Retirement marks a major life transition—not just individually, but within a relationship. As routines shift and roles evolve, couples may experience both deeper connection and new challenges.

Navigating this stage involves open communication, mutual understanding, and a willingness to adjust expectations. With intention, retirement can become an opportunity for growth, connection, and redefining shared goals.

More people are turning to AI tools like ChatGPT for emotional support, advice, and even “therapy.” And honestly—it makes sense. AI is available 24/7, responds instantly, and can feel easier to open up to than another person.

But here’s the reality:
AI can support mental health—but it can’t replace therapy.
Licensed clinicians bring human connection, clinical judgment, and the ability to recognize risk in ways AI simply can’t. Therapy is more than responses—it’s a relationship built on trust, nuance, and care. AI can be a helpful space to reflect, organize thoughts, or practice coping strategies. But it shouldn’t be your only support system.
If you’re struggling, you deserve real, human support too.

Self-injury is often a way someone is trying to cope with overwhelming thoughts, emotions, or experiences, and it should be met with compassion and without judgment. While helping the person stop self-injurious behavior is paramount, incorporating healthy and safe alternatives—such as those taught in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—can help individuals build skills like distress tolerance and emotion regulation, providing safer and more effective ways to cope. 🧡

Maternal mental health is a vital part of women’s wellness. Pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum are times of immense physical, emotional, and hormonal change. Feeling anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed during these moments is completely normal. Prioritizing self-care, seeking support from loved ones or professionals, and having open conversations about mental health can help moms navigate these changes and build a stronger, healthier foundation for themselves and their families. 🩷

Anxiety disorders are more common in children than many realize. Understanding the different types allows parents, caregivers, and educators to provide meaningful support. Early recognition helps children develop coping skills, boost confidence, and form stronger friendships. With the right guidance and support, children with anxiety can thrive and feel safe, capable, and secure in themselves and the world around them. 🧡
