A little more about AEF:
The Alternative Education Foundation (AEF) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated to improving educational outcomes for children and adolescents who struggle
in traditional school settings. Governed by a Board of Directors, AEF oversees the operation
of specialized schools, conducts educational research, provides professional training, and
facilitates parent support groups.

Founded in 2003 by a group of concerned parents, AEF was established in response to a
common frustration: despite their children’s intelligence, traditional public and private schools were unable to meet their needs. These children often faced challenges related to ADHD, Asperger’s, Autism, and other social and communication difficulties. However, they did not require highly restrictive environments or
programs designed for severe behavioral or emotional issues.

AEF’s founding parents envisioned a different type of school—one that offers a structured and nurturing setting focused on developing academic, social, cognitive, and life skills. Today, AEF Schools serve over
225 students from the South Florida region, offering individualized support for average to above-average intelligence students who have not experienced success academically, socially, or at home.

AEF continues to fulfill its mission by creating environments where students are not only supported but empowered—ensuring they can grow into confident, capable, and self-sufficient individuals.
