Dr. Alma Regnault was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and raised in Weston and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine and Biology from Nova Southeastern University in 2002. Driven by her passion for healthcare, she pursue
d a career in optometry, completing her Doctorate at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry. While growing up in Weston, Dr. Regnault gained her first hands-on experience in optometry as a student, working at Weston Eyecare when the practice first opened over 20 years ago. During her time at the university, Dr. Regnault actively participated in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), traveling to the Dominican Republic to provide much-needed eye care services to underserved rural communities. She also served as the AOSA (American Optometric Student Association) trustee, becoming the first student to represent the Inter American University of Puerto Rico at the AOA’s (American Optometric Association) Congressional Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C. As class president, Dr. Regnault delivered the commencement speech for the graduating class of 2009. Recognized for her leadership and dedication, she received several awards, including the Dean Leadership Award and the Advocacy Leadership Award. She also contributed two articles as an AOSA trustee columnist for Foresight, the AOSA news magazine. Dr. Regnault has collaborated with renowned optometrists and ophthalmologists across the United States, gaining extensive experience in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Puerto Rico. In 2010, she relocated to the New York metropolitan area, serving as the lead doctor and clinical director for an IDRX practice in New Jersey. By 2012, she joined Lens Crafters, where she became the managing doctor of the West Village store in Manhattan. In 2013, Dr. Regnault appeared as an eye-care correspondent on CNN Español’s Dr. Azaret Show. The following year, she served as a spokesperson at the United Nations for the Permanent Missions of Cape Verde and Ivory Coast, advocating for global eye health awareness. Today, Dr. Regnault resides in Pembroke Pines, Florida, with her husband, daughters, and their beloved Boston Terrier. In her free time, she enjoys Flamenco dancing, traveling, and creating cherished memories with her family. In a meaningful turn of events, Dr. Regnault has come full circle, becoming the proud owner of Weston Eyecare—the very practice where her passion for optometry began. She is honored to continue serving the community that inspired her journey, bringing her experience and dedication back to where it all started.
