Exciting news for a future where everyone has the support they need to thrive.

The American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP) and The Jed Foundation (JED) are taking a major step forward in su***de prevention efforts nationwide. Both organizations are excited to announce the intent to merge as equals to form AFSP/JED, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to preventing su***de across the lifespan and bringing hope to those affected by su***de loss or risk. 👏

AFSP/JED will unite unique resources, approaches, and expertise to drive measurable impact. With a $75M operating budget, the organization aims to strengthen mental health systems, support those affected by su***de, and advance evidence based solutions across the country.

Together, we can create a future where everyone has the support they need to thrive.

Since 2019, the Afterglow Foundation has been “Shining the Light” on su***de through music, remembrance, and a shared commitment to su***de prevention, awareness and mental health. Afterglow, which began as a way to honor our son, AJ Holzscheiter, and to help teach parents how to talk to their children about su***de, has grown into something so much larger - a shared space where connection is real and “Shining the Light” reaches all across Vermont

More than 2,200 people joined us at Afterglow 2025, and together, we gave over $130,000 to support su***de prevention, awareness and mental health efforts. That generosity directly supported organizations including:

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services
American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - Vermont Chapter
Spectrum Youth and Family Services
Josh Pallotta Fund at Josh's House, VT
Howard Center
St. Albans Recreation Department

Please help us keep, and grow that momentum, at the Afterglow 2026. Our goal this year is to give $150,000 to support su***de prevention, awareness, and mental health.
