Clearly our boy is living his best life and having the best 9th birthday we could ever ask for! So lucky he has his brothers & best buddies by his side for the celebration in his favorite place (and grateful that the boys squeezed in a quick FaceTime with us too)! We love you Cam! Today is and the start of ✨

Did you know that just one blistering sunburn in childhood or adolescence more than doubles your risk of developing malignant melanoma later in life? The more you burn, the greater your risk of skin cancer.

Remember, look out for the ABCDEs of melanoma:
A: asymmetry (one side of the lesion looks different than the other)
B: borders (jagged, irregular, not smooth)
C: color (multiple colors or shades of colors within a lesion; red/white/blue sign)
D: diameter (greater than 6mm or size of pencil eraser)
E: evolution (change is key; ie., a lesion that is flat & suddenly becomes elevated)

Contact us if you have a lesion that has been growing, itching, bleeding or changing for 4-6 weeks & we will get it checked out! Wear your sunscreen 🧴daily, sun protective clothing 👒 regularly & sit in the shade 🏖 to prevent skin cancers!

Pore size is one of the most common complaints we hear every day . Pores affect all ages & are normal, but can become cosmetically concerning when enlarged. While there are no permanent modalities to eliminate pores, we have many treatment options, including at-home topical and oral treatments (retinoids, hydroxy acids), in-office peels, microneedling, lasers and light based treatments.

Thank you for including .aoshinsays and my evaluation of Pore Size Reduction using Picosecond 755-nm Alexandrite Laser. After evaluation of 32 participants, we found that the 755-nm Alexandrite picosecond laser shows promise for significantly reducing pore size!

Vax #1 ✅✅✅✅

3 lefties and a rightie hence the arm choices! 💪

Many patients, colleagues, and friends have asked me over the past few weeks if I was going to vaccinate my kids right away, particularly since we already had Covid & a mild case. I think Isla summed it up perfectly as we were walking into : "Mom, I'm a little scared, but I'm really excited." ✨

➡️ We vaccinate to protect ourselves, protect others (particularly those who are immunocompromised or cannot yet get vaccinated, like our little Princess P 👶🏻), protect our community, and decrease spread and emergence of future strains/mutations.

➡️ We vaccinate to decrease the likelihood that we get Covid again and have long haul symptoms or other serious complications.

Yes, we're a *little* scared of the “one in a million” complication that can result from vaccination, but the chance of getting Covid and complications from Covid are far greater & much more likely when unvaccinated. So, thank you science & thank you to all the kids that took part in the trials to make this possible! 🙏❤️🌟

If you're on my toxin (botox, dysport, xeomin, juveau/newtox) schedule, it's time for some more! ✨ Toxin generally lasts 3-4 months and is used to weaken muscles so that fine lines are minimized and softened, particularly of the forehead, glabella, and crows feet. We also use toxin around the mouth for a lip flip and to soften fine vertical lines, in the masseters for facial shaping, and along the scalp, in the axillae and palms to decrease sweating. ☀️ Summer AM Routine: I use lighter products in the summer and layer my antioxidants, peptides, brighteners and obviously SPF. Since I use a mineral SPF, this is the last step in my routine.

1. Cleanse
2. Antioxidant first! Love our Pure Bioderm Antioxidant Super Serum loaded with vitamin C, phloretin, and ferulic acid.
3. Alastin restorative skin complex with patented trihex technology to build collagen and plump
4. Alastin restorative eye treatment to moisturize, hydrate, and build collagen around the eyes
5. Skin Better EVEN tone correcting serum- since my skin is oily, I use this as my non-hydroquinone moisturizing serum & brightener; works wonders for melasma & acne-prone skin
6. SPF: Love this IT cosmetics CC cream that doubles as foundation. I make sure to use a product with iron oxide which is great for melasma and sun spot prevention. For days at work, I use non-tinted ISDIN eryofotona SPF so that I don’t get makeup all over my mask!

💖 Treat your neck as part of your face and don’t forget to apply your products there as well!

👄 Did you know that the skin on our lips is 3-5 layers thick vs. the skin on our face which can be up to 16 cell layers thick? The thinner, more delicate skin is what allows your blood vessels to be more apparent giving your lips their pink/red hue. When dead skin cells build up on the surface, lips can look dull and less vibrant. And since your lips also lack sebaceous glands, which help keep skin moisturized with the sebum that they produce, your lips are prone to drying out. ✨ Try a DIY lip scrub to exfoliate and then nourish your pout - some of my favorites 🤩 are Restorsea PRO Lipmagic, Dr. Dan's Cortibalm Lip Balm, Vanicream Lip Protectant and EltaMD UV Lip Balm.

This week has been an absolute flop as we’ve had no power or WiFi/phones to see our patients & Westport has been cleaning up from this mess of a storm. However, I have a renewed sense of love and respect for my wonderful neighborhood & town; everyone has come together - checking on each other, delivering packages & food, and even risking lives to create emergency paths through yards to get people & vehicles out. Also enjoying this gift of extra uninterrupted unplugged time with the family. And while a totally first world luxury, our incredible Vega pool cover company surprised us yesterday afternoon trekking up our street & manually cranking open our cover so the kids could swim 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We have many treatments for acne scars depending on the type of scarring - red, depressed & atophic ice-pick scars, hyperpigmented, or hypertrophic (thickened). Some treatment options include: fillers, microneedling, Genius microneedling with radiofrequency, Pico laser, vbeam pulsed dye laser, fraxel laser, and CO2 laser.

👆This patient opted for a combination of hyaluronic acid filler for immediate effect, as well as microneedling with nectar to induce collagen and elastin synthesis. He will need a series of monthly treatments for best effect. We can't wait to see the result!
