Dry January is easier with support.

Invite a friend to join you, try a new hobby in place of drinking, or explore non-alcoholic drinks. Small steps can lead to lasting change—and it’s always okay to ask for help if you need it.

Are you a caregiver of someone who suffers from Alzheimer's? Are you looking for support as you support your loved one? If so, consider joining the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group offered through Positive Directions!

Our Alzheimer caregivers’ support group is a lifeline for families. It is a place to turn to for advice and encouragement to help feel connected and give caregivers a sense of belonging and purpose. The group helps put our own experiences living with dementia in perspective and provides support and encouragement to move beyond a diagnosis. We share feelings confidentially, make friends, get help navigating the health care and legal systems, and learn from one another.

So many of us are struggling with our mental health, and thoughts of su***de are more common than you may realize. We encourage everyone to take the FREE Question-Persuade-Refer (QPR) training to be able to recognize and respond to someone in crisis. QPR is an evidence-based training aimed at anyone ages 16 and up. Learn how to reach out to someone who may be struggling and provide life-saving support. The training includes videos, a slideshow, and a group role play.

For 2026, we are offering this training for free quarterly on last Fridays from 12:30-2pm--bring your lunch and we'll have coffee and water. Please note that at least 5 attendees are required for a training to take place, so why not sign up with a friend or colleague? We do ask you not to attend any su***de prevention training if you have been personally affected by su***de in the past 6 months.

Would you like to bring this training to your school, workplace, club, or church? We can provide QPR group trainings to organizations in our catchment area upon request (English or Spanish), as well as other training programs. Please email Margaret at mwatt@positivedirections.org if you're interested in this option.
