Alternatives to Su***de (“Alt2Su”) is a free, peer-led support group where people can talk openly about su***de thoughts, attempts, or experiences like self harm. It's a safe, non-clinical space where people ages 18+ can talk about their experiences and emotional distress without judgment or fear of unwanted interventions. We do not assume suicidal thoughts are connected to mental illness, and you do not need to be experiencing a current crisis to attend. You are welcome to join any time--no commitment, no need for a referral from a treatment program.

Every Tuesday at 7pm on Zoom

Thank you to The Westport Library for inviting us to lead a discussion to help parents! On Monday, Positive Directions organized an event on "Parenting Pressures." Our prevention director, Margaret Watt, led the discussion among panelists, including: Melanie DeLapp, our clinical director; Jen Benoit, the Kids in Crisis counselor at Staples HS; Lindsay Blass, a Westport-based clinical psychologist; John Markette from Causeway Collaborative; and Liz Hanlon, a local parent and social work student. We enjoyed a great Q&A session with the audience.

Many thanks to all the panelists who donated their time and talents to support our local parents!

Sending gratitude and love to for yesterday's Su***de Prevention Walk recognizing Su***de Awareness Month. The community banded together to support those who struggle and those we've lost, share resources, and hear stories of loss but also resilience. It was a beautiful, meaningful event. Thank you, Sacred Heart, for this amazing event. 🩵
