September is Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month.

PCOS is a genetic, hormone, metabolic and reproductive disorder that affects 1 in 10 women around the world. It is the leading cause of female infertility and a precursor for other serious conditions including obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and endometrial cancer.

PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age yet 50% of women with PCOS go undiagnosed.

PCOS Awareness Month is so important for bringing awareness and supporting the hundreds of millions of people impacted by PCOS worldwide.

Congratulations to Dr. Merhi 🎉 who received the ASRM 2021 Star Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Merhi also received this award in 2020 making this his second year in a row to receive this award.

Meet Dr. Hadi Ramadan!

Dr. Hadi joined the RFC/SUNY Downstate University fellowship program on July 1st, 2021 as the first-year fellow. He graduated from AUB where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Medical Degree. He spent two years as a research fellow at the University of Chicago. He then completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) where he received several academic and teaching awards including the REI, Research, and American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists (AAGL) awards, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Society in recognition of his academic excellence.

It’s a girl! Welcome to the world Kaylyn Maria 💕 Born 7/22.

Both mom (Susan) and baby Kaylyn are doing great. After a long journey at multiple fertility clinics Susan conceived in October 2020 after using PRP at RFC.

We are thrilled to share our newly published article in the Reproductive Sciences journal.

To date, most prior PRP studies have focused on the effect of PRP on ovarian response pertaining to oocyte production and pregnancy outcome following assisted reproductive technology.

This report presents a patient with very low ovarian reserve, with medical problems that preclude her from taking hormone replacement therapy, who presented for fertility treatment with PRP and then incidentally reported significant improvement of menopausal symptoms including her hot flashes for 14 weeks following PRP intra-ovarian injection.

While there is more research to do, PRP should be considered as a potential alternative therapy for hot flashes in women who have contraindications for hormone replacement therapy.
