Pharmacy Family Week 9:
Sage Lobo, Certified Pharmacy Technician

Sage is a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician at Westport Apothecary. She joined the Westport Apothecary team in 2019 and has quickly become one of our most efficient workers. Sage is a certified vaccinator, assists with blister packing medication, and is interested in becoming a compounding technician. Prior to her time at the Apothecary, Sage worked for a day care and was pursuing an education in early childcare. In her free time, Sage likes to spend time with her friends, bake, and watch Star Wars movies.

Pharmacy Family Week 8:
Amy Golden, Certified Pharmacy Technician

Amy is a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician at Westport Apothecary. As our second most senior technician, Amy has been a valuable member of our pharmacy team since having joined us in January of 2000. Amy is one of our many multi-faceted employees. She is a vaccinator, a certified compression stocking and brace fitter, a compounding technician, our main blister packer, and a medical billing/reconciliation specialist. Prior to her time at the Apothecary, Amy worked for Walgreens. In her free time, Amy loves spending time with family, especially her daughter, Giuliana. She also enjoys making cookies, crafting, and sewing.

Pharmacy Family Week 7:
Diane Pacheco, Certified Pharmacy Technician

Diane is a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician at Westport Apothecary. She has been a dedicated technician and valuable member of our pharmacy team since having joined us 31 years ago. Prior to her pharmacy career, Diane worked for the Westport School system in the cafeteria. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and attending her grandchildren’s baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball games. She also enjoys her granddaughter’s high school drama performances.

Pharmacy Family Week 6:
Tammy Mingola R.Ph.

Tammy is a Registered Pharmacist at Westport Apothecary. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1987 from the University of Rhode Island. After graduation, Tammy worked at CVS where she was employed for 37 years. She joined our Apothecary team in 2015 as a part-time pharmacist, and is now semi-retired. Outside of work Tammy likes to travel, shop and cook.

Pharmacy Family Week 5:
Alexander Linn, PharmD, R.Ph.

Alex is a Registered Pharmacist at Westport Apothecary, who completed his APPE pharmacy rotation here under Lauren’s preceptorship in 2023. He graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2024 from the University of Rhode Island and has worked for the Apothecary since March of 2025. When Alex is not working in the dispensing pharmacy, you can find Alex in the compounding lab. Outside of work, Alex loves theatre, and spending time with his axolotl, frog, and friends.

Pharmacy Family Week 5:
Raquel Pacheco R.Ph., Team Leader

Raquel is a Registered Pharmacist at Westport Apothecary. She is also our pharmacy team leader and in charge of our medication therapy management program. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Rhode Island in 1995. Raquel went to work for CVS out of school, quickly progressing through the ranks. After a long career as a pharmacy manager, educator, preceptor, and community outreach pharmacy ambassador for CVS pharmacy, Raquel came and joined our team in 2023. In addition, to completing MTM’s and working the bench, you can find Ms. Pacheco assisting with medical billing in the office or assisting with administrative duties. Outside of work, Raquel loves to experience life, whether it’s outdoors, traveling, or socializing with friends and family. She spends most of her days with her husband and two doodles.

Pharmacy Family Week 4:
Lauren Perez, PharmD, R.Ph.

Lauren is a Registered Pharmacist at Westport Apothecary. She is also our Compounding Pharmacy Manager, and our Registered Contraceptive Care Prescriber. Lauren is, also, an Adjunct Clinical Professor at University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Research, and a Clinical Staff Member of MCPHS University, providing preceptorship for many students yearly as they embark on their pharmacy rotations. She graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2020 from MCPHS University. Lauren has worked for the pharmacy since 2012, working her way from cashier, to technician, to intern, and, finally, pharmacist. In addition, to compounding and working the bench, you can find Mrs. Perez assisting her mother (Lynne Barker, General Manager) in the office or the front store, and precepting pharmacy students. A few of you may know that “Apothecary Grandma” is Lauren’s maternal grandmother, making Joan her great aunt. Outside of work, Lauren loves to spend time with her pets, assist her mother with fostering animals, and travel.

Pharmacy Family Week 3:
Carol Baptista, “Apothecary Grandma”

Carol is the sweet lady we call the “Apothecary Grandma”. Carol graduated from Bridgewater State University, formerly Bridgewater State College, in 1964 and became an English teacher at Rochester Regional High School. Later in life she was a stay-at-home mom to Lynne Barker, General Manager, and her son Todd, who is also a pharmacist and can often be seen volunteering at one of our immunization clinics. Mrs. Baptista came out of her retirement to assist the store with COVID paperwork, shots, clinics, and more. Over the past few years Carol has acquired many jobs, from front store cashier/clerk, ordering and maintaining the card department, to assisting in the office with bills, paperwork, and banking. “Miss Carol” has become an integral part of the family business and loves coming to work to socialize with all our fabulous customers. Not only is she Lynne’s mother, she is the sister of Joan (owner) and grandmother to Lauren (pharmacist). Outside of work, Carol loves spending time with family and friends.

Pharmacy Family Week 2:
Lynne Barker R.Ph., General Manager

Lynne is the General Manager of the Westport Apothecary. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from MCPHS with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1992 and a minor in Cosmetic Science. Lynne started working at the family business at age 15 and stayed at the Apothecary until she went off to college. Fresh out of pharmacy school, Lynne worked for CVS where she quickly became a manager. Later in her career, she furthered her clinical skills as a Consultant Pharmacist for Omnicare, until finally coming back to manage the Westport Apothecary in 2014. Lynne is an integral part of the family business, as Joan Harb’s niece and our Compounding Pharmacist, Lauren Perez’s, mother. A few of you may know that her mother, Carol, works for us as well, as the “Apothecary Grandma”! On a snowy day you can find her husband, Randy plowing our parking lot. Outside of work, Lynne loves to give back to the community by fostering animals for local rescues and has fostered over 200 animals to date.

February is a month of hearts, from Valentine’s Day to Heart Awareness Month. In honor of this, we would like to share our hearts with you! We will be posting a different member of our pharmacy family weekly.

Pharmacy Family Week1:

James and Joan Harb

James and Joan are the owners of the Westport Apothecary. Jim graduated as a pharmacist in January of 1962 from Northeastern University. He joined the service for a few years before coming home to meet Joan. It was love at first sight and they married in February of 1970. The pharmacy was opened not long after in October. Some of you may know, the Apothecary was originally a small, rented space across the way and then ultimately the current store was built in 1972. Mr. Harb was a distinguished pharmacist who was appointed Commissioner of the Board of Pharmacy around 1980. He unfortunately died in 1984 unexpectedly. He is survived by his lovely wife and current owner of the Westport Apothecary, Joan. You can look forward to meeting Joan’s niece, Lynne Barker, and great niece, Lauren Perez, in our upcoming posts!
