Many people suffer with this condition. I have treated a lot of adult patients successfully from GER, but but I see more and more kids in my practice who also present with GER. For some kids it results in sleep apnea. It is recommended that these children do not eat anything at least 3 hours before bed, but how is it possible? Kids constantly want to eat something. I found that treating children with acid reflux is very similar to treating adults.
These are the main points in treating acid reflux:
•Hydrochloric Acid:
Increasing natural production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach is the first step to preventing acid reflux for many people. This can be done by eating fermented vegetables such as sauerkraut. I also recommend taking betaine HCL supplement right before meals.
•Change Your Diet:
Processed foods and sugars are almost a guaranteed to worsen acid reflux and create a bacterial imbalance in the stomach and intestinal tract. Eat more fresh and raw organic fruits and vegetables. Be careful when eating foods like tomatoes, chocolate, garlic, spicy chilies, and high-fat foods. Oftentimes they bother people with acid reflux.
•Take a Digestive Enzyme Supplement
•Try organic apple cider vinegar : this may help some people by calming the stomach and supporting digestion
•Take baking soda:
Mix a teaspoon in a glass of water, stir, and drink before it stops fizzing.
•Take probiotics
•Avoid Gluten
