The Parent Collective

The Parent Collective Prenatal & new parent programming that creates your community. Giving birth to a baby, whether it’s your first or third, is an exciting and nerve-wracking time.

You have millions of questions that only experience can answer, but with the right support, these anxieties can be laid to rest to help you feel that you can do this! Many people turn to hospital classes and training sessions, but we think that this misses a crucial emotional ingredient that can make having a baby less isolating and more inclusive. The Parent Collective is designed to provide information, foster open discussion and establish connections among couples living in close proximity. Our hope is that these classes will create a social network for parents in their community, offering playmates for children and a crucial support system.

Evidence-based prenatal education works—especially when it’s paired with real community. 💛

Recent survey results show that 98% of expecting parents who have taken our prenatal series would recommend it to a friend, and clinical confidence jumped from just 5% before the program to 93% after. That’s a major boost.

At a time when loneliness in new parenthood is rising and tech-only solutions are everywhere, we’re seeing what actually improves the parenting experience before, during, and after birth: evidence-based education, in-person connection, and support led by nurses and midwives.

✨ Seattle parents-to-be — your village starts here ✨
Our prenatal series is coming to Seattle, starting February 24 at 6:30pm, and it’s so much more than a childbirth class.

TPC is an evidence-based, discussion-led prenatal series designed to:
🤍 Prepare you for birth and postpartum
🤍 Connect you with other parents due around the same time
🤍 Help you build real, local friendships before baby arrives.

Modeled after the UK’s National Childbirth Trust, our classes combine expert-led education with intentional community-building — because we know postpartum is easier (and more joyful) when you don’t do it alone.

If you’re pregnant in Seattle or know someone who is, please reshare — this is how villages get built 💫

🗓 Starts: February 24
⏰ 6:30pm

If you’ve ever found yourself spiraling down an internet rabbit hole while pregnant or newly postpartum, Amanda Hess’s Second Life: Having a Child in the Digital Age will feel uncomfortably familiar.

As a longtime internet culture critic, Hess turns her lens inward when pregnancy pulls her into fertility apps, genetic testing, online forums, and influencer advice — and shows how easily “seeking information” turns into anxiety, judgment, and a false sense of control. The book is funny, sharp, and deeply human, and it captures something so many parents experience but rarely name.

At The Parent Collective, our goal is to help parents avoid the Google death spiral and get back to what actually helps - to reduce overwhelm, analysis paralysis, and the sense that you need to research your way through every decision. That’s why this book really spoke to us. It’s a reminder that while information has its place, real support, trusted guidance, and community matter just as much.

Our takeaway: You don’t need to optimize your way through pregnancy or parenthood. You need tools, perspective, and people in your corner.

Worth a read if you’re navigating pregnancy or early parenthood in the digital age.
