We need to eliminate the word 'allowed' when it comes to birthing mamas.

You're a grown ass woman so no, you don’t need to be “allowed” to eat, move, stand, or hold your baby during birth.

But for far too many women, that’s exactly how it feels. They are told:

⚠️They can’t eat or drink anything but ice chips.
⚠️To stay in bed, hooked to monitors.
⚠️They can’t use the tub or shower.
⚠️They must push lying on their back, legs in stirrups.
⚠️Their partner has to leave during exams.
⚠️They can’t delay cord clamping or newborn care.
⚠️Photos or videos aren’t allowed.

This isn’t care. It’s control.
You are not a passenger in your birth.

Your body. Your baby. Your birth. You deserve respect, autonomy, and evidence-based support.

Most of these “rules” aren’t about safety. They’re about outdated protocols, convenience, and liability fears. Here’s what evidence actually shows:

🍎 Eating and drinking in labor is safe for most women—and fuels stamina.
🚶‍♀️ Moving, walking, using the tub (if your water isn't broken) or shower, and choosing your position can shorten labor and reduce interventions.
🤱 Immediate skin-to-skin and delaying newborn care improve outcomes for both of you.
📸 Photos and videos? Your birth is your sacred story.

Birth is not something to be managed. It’s a rite of passage. You don’t need permission to make informed choices—you need support to stand fiercely in them.

That’s why I created MamaPathway—a radical, compassionate birth course to prepare you for birth, protect your autonomy, and step into motherhood with unshakeable confidence.

We cover what your OB should teach you but rarely does:

🌿 Nourishing your body and microbiome
🌿 Your rights and options in the hospital
🌿 How to reduce interventions in labor and recover powerfully postpartum

Birth is not something that should happen to you. It’s something you get to do, your way, with respect for your preferences.

💭 Did you experience these restrictions—or were you supported in your choices? Share below. Your story can empower another mama today.

🌸 Birth “Rules” You Can Totally Break 🌸
(Because birth is not a test… and you don’t get graded for it 😉)

Here are 18 things you thought you had to do — but actually, you really don’t:

1️⃣ You don’t have to give birth on your back.
Hospitals love it, but your body doesn’t. There are MUCH better positions!

2️⃣ You don’t have to push just because someone tells you to.
Your natural urge-to-push is the smartest guide you have.

3️⃣ You don’t have to stay stuck in bed.
Movement = progress + less pain. Yes, even with an epidural!

4️⃣ You don’t have to accept every cervical check.
They’re optional. Truly.

5️⃣ You don’t have to be continuously monitored.
For most low-risk births, intermittent monitoring is totally safe — and gives you freedom.

6️⃣ You don’t have to get induced just because you hit 40 weeks.
Many babies simply cook a little longer… like a good soup 😄

7️⃣ You don’t have to match the hospital’s “timeline.”
Your labor isn’t wrong if it’s slow.

8️⃣ You don’t have to say “yes” right away.
Pause. Breathe. Ask. You decide.

9️⃣ You don’t have to push nonstop for hours.
Resting, changing positions, and waiting for the fetal ejection reflex works wonders.

🔟 You don’t have to be separated from your baby.
Immediate skin-to-skin is evidence-based and magical.

1️⃣1️⃣ You don’t have to let visitors in right after birth.
“We need privacy now” is a perfectly valid choice.

1️⃣2️⃣ You don’t have to labor under bright lights.
Dim, cozy, oxytocin-friendly lighting is your friend.

1️⃣3️⃣ You don’t have to stay quiet.
Birth noises? Totally normal and super helpful.

1️⃣4️⃣ You don’t have to stay in the same room.
Walk, shower, birth ball — movement matters!

1️⃣5️⃣ You don’t have to stop eating or drinking.
Most birthing people can safely do both.

1️⃣6️⃣ You don’t have to get an IV “just in case.”
A saline lock + oral hydration is often enough.

1️⃣7️⃣ You don’t have to lie flat with an epidural.
You can switch sides, sit up, and use the peanut ball.

1️⃣8️⃣ And finally: you never have to apologize for advocating for yourself.
Your body. Your baby. Your birth. 💛

🇭🇺 verzió

🌸 Szülési “szabályok”, amiket NYUGODTAN megszeghetsz! 🌸

A tested saját késztetése a leghatékonyabb “nyomási stratégia”.

3️⃣ Nem kell az ágyhoz ragadnod.
Mozgás = gyorsabb tágulás + kevesebb fájdalom. Igen, epidurállal is!

7️⃣ Nem kell a kórházi „órához” igazodnod.
A te vajúdásod tempója normális.

A “most szeretnénk kettesben maradni” teljesen oké.

A te tested. A te babád. A te szülésed. ❤️

Oxitocin, nyugalom, humor — minden lesz. Jössz? 💕

💜 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵

Preeclampsia affects up to 1 in 12 pregnancies—and early detection can make all the difference.

Do you know the signs?
👉 High blood pressure
👉 Swelling in the face or hands
👉 Severe headaches
👉 Vision changes
👉 Pain under the ribs
👉 Nausea in late pregnancy
👉 Shortness of breath

These symptoms can be subtle, but they’re important. This month, we’re spreading awareness, sharing resources, and encouraging moms and birth partners to learn what to watch for.

🌍✨ Welcome to International Doula Month 2025! ✨🌍

This May, we’re celebrating the extraordinary impact of doulas with our theme: Doulas Make the Difference: Birth, Baby, and Beyond.

From the first contraction to the first steps—and every moment in between—doulas are there. This theme honors the profound ways doulas support families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the parenting journey. Their presence brings knowledge, comfort, and strength that goes beyond the birth room—reaching across borders, cultures, and into the future of every family they support.

Throughout the month, we’ll spotlight their impact with weekly subthemes that explore the many roles doulas play, share stories from the field, and offer resources to empower our global community. We’ve also created a special International Doula Month Social Media Toolkit which we will share shortly to help you celebrate, advocate, and spread the word to your communities online.

Whether you’re a doula, a parent, or a supporter of birth justice, there’s something here for you. Let’s show the world how —not just at birth, or baby, but beyond.💜🌌
