Why are dental X-rays important?
Although sometimes tedious and uncomfortable, X-Rays are very important for dentists to see the whole picture. They help dentists see the condition of your teeth and also the roots, jaw, and facial bone composition. This helps dentists treat dental problems before they become too serious or advanced.
Dental X-Rays can show:
- small areas of decay in teeth
- decay beneath fillings
- cysts and other types of tumors
- bone loss
- abscess
- teeth position
We recommend to get X-rays done at least once a year, so we can detect any possible recurring decay or any other oral complications. While they do expose you to low radiation levels, dental X-rays are perfectly safe and the harmful effects associated with them are very low.
Dental X-rays might not feel like rainbows and sunshine, but they're an important tool to detect tooth decay and other dental problems as early as possible, saving you both money and pain :)
