SO excited to be offering this workshop with my colleague Amy Gardner. This two-hour workshop is for dietitians, coaches, and personal trainers who are working with clients struggling with compulsive exercise, exercise resistance, and exercise during eating disorder recovery.

You'll leave ready to have confident conversations with your clients about their relationship with movement and guide them through experiential practices to encourage embodiment and mindfulness. Leave your questions in the comments... hope to see you there!

Do you find it near impossible to un-mesh your relationship with exercise from diet culture? Are you simultaneously disconnected from what joyful, embodied movement feels like and confused about how to integrate exercise into your life in a way that feels aligned with your values and ability level?

Maybe this shows up like:
👉🏼You start a new "program" or "workout method" for a week and then lose interest or feel defeat because you can't "stick with it".
👉🏼You avoid movement and exercise, but at the same time you are consumed with thoughts about starting a new fitness program and this leaves you feeling shame and guilt.
👉🏼You want to integrate exercise into your life to improve your health but don’t know how to do this is a way that feels useful and sustainable.
👉🏼You exercise compulsively and have difficulty taking a day off or trying more gentle forms of movement.
👉🏼You feel like if movement is fun or easy it doesn't "count".
👉🏼You feel like you don't deserve rest, or that you have to earn rest.

You’re not alone!

I coach my clients through these dilemmas everyday and now I’m integrating what I’ve learned (and experienced myself) into an accessible 6-week group coaching program.

We’ll meet via Zoom starting Tuesday April 13, 2021. All the deets are on my website: http://www.jessihaggerty.com/group if you want to learn more + sign up.

to my podcast episode with Caitie Corradino! Caitie joined my team a few months ago and is now taking virtual movement therapy / personal training clients. And this episode really highlights our approach to movement and answers some common misconceptions about what it means to move intuitively. Listen via the link in below! In this first session we really get to know each other. In the first part of this session, we dig into a conversation in order to begin to identify the root cause of your symptoms. We talk about where you’ve been and where you are now in order to make a plan to move forward. We wrap this session ...

(Unlike "Intuitive Eating") there is no distinct framework or principles of "Intuitive Movement." So I wrote this blog earlier this year to break down the process of Intuitive Movement in a clearer way for anyone who may be confused by this concept! Check it out of you haven't already.
https://www.jessihaggerty.com/blog/my-10-principles-of-intuitive-movement

You might be wondering: what is Intuitive Movement? Well first, I’d like to say that I did not coin this term and I am certainly not the first to talk about it. But as a Personal Trainer and Intuitive Eating Counselor, it felt well, intuitive, to explore this concept and share my 10 Principles of ...

to my interview with Chrissy King! We talked about why “loving your body” is complicated by the culture we live in, how to hold space for the desire to lose weight without letting it control your fitness journey, and why it’s OK (er, necessary) for fitness professionals to talk about social justice. Listen here: https://www.jessihaggerty.com/blog/blp56

If you're following me, you're likely familiar with Intuitive Eating, but what about "Intuitive Movement?" If you're wondering how to exercise or incorporate movement into your life without "rules" or restrictions...tune into this podcast episode I recorded earlier this year!

We answer the following questions:
- What is intuitive movement?
- How much movement do you actually need?
- How do I reconcile the need for movement if I don’t want to do it?
- What if you struggle with feeling like you NEED to workout everyday?

AND MORE!

In this episode Caitie and I answer listener questions about Intuitive Movement.

to my interview with Nicola Rinaldi of No Period. Now What? This is THE most listened to episode of the BLP podcast. Nicola’s work has been game changing in our field as she talks about how amenorrhea (the loss of a period) is related to energy deficiency (aka not eating enough calories to meet your body’s basic needs) and has nothing to do with hour body’s size.

In this episode we also talk about treatment approaches to loss of period, weight stigma in amenorrhea treatment, and how to look out for a “false” PCOS diagnosis. We also answer a few listener questions about soy and hormonal health and how to assess cervical mucus.

If you haven’t already listened, check it out here: https://www.jessihaggerty.com/blog/blp54

Undernourishing (whether intentionally through dieting or restriction or unintentionally due to stress or busyness) is at worst detrimental to your health and at best nothing to write home about. But EATING while stressed? SOUND THE ALARMS 🚨 WE HAVE AN ISSUE!!!

So... isn’t this interesting? Interesting and not surprising. In a culture that glorifies thinness it makes perfect sense that this would be our perception. So let’s call it what it is - perception.

For some more actionable approaches to “stress eating” and stress management overall check out my blog on stress eating:

Did you know that we offer virtual services that allow you to work with us from anywhere?

One of our virtual services is Movement Therapy – which involves practicing mindful exercises, guided by a certified Personal Trainer via video call. Each movement therapy session combines the mindfulness, alignment, and breath work of yoga with strength training and (optional) cardio techniques to help you to find body awareness, challenge limiting beliefs, and connect to yourself on a deeper level. In addition to movement, each session also involves discussion and processing that will help you set intentions and create a “plan” that meets your personal goals without setting rigid “rules” or restrictions.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, first you should know you're not alone. You should also know that there is a way to find peace and ease when it comes to healing your relationship with food and your body. When we work together, you'll not only gain insight and awareness into your own ...
