Job Title: Behavior Technician/ Registered Behavior Technician
Location: Bergen County, NJ
Job Type: Part Time
Hours: Monday - Friday 3:30pm -7:00pm Availability preferred

Job Description:
Provide direct 1:1 ABA services to Individuals with Autism and related disorders In-home
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans
Collect data accurately via a digital data collection platform

Salary Range: Salary for this position is based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:
Must practice confidentiality and maintain a high standard of ethics; Work well with teams (staff, families, and clinical consultants).
Provide one-to-one behavior intervention services to a variety of children with autism and related disorders.
Timely and accurate notification and documentation of incidents, notes, and plans.
Maintain accurate data and graphing on all designated programs.
May accompany assigned student across environments (e.g., home and community), implementing behavioral objectives.
Must have access to a reliable vehicle with car insurance, have a driver’s license, as well as access to a reliable computer with Internet.
Ability to navigate web-based programs.
Must successfully pass a background check.

Don’t get stuck in the “good job!” rut! Mix up your positive reinforcement and add in some behavior specific praise ✨

Behavior specific praise is a great strategy to use to help the learner identify the desired behavior they are engaging in. It provides feedback that can be applied in the future!

Natural Environment Teaching (NET) is a teaching strategy used in ABA. Teaching kids through natural play is a fun and effective way to help them learn and develop important skills.

How to make sure your NET programming is successful:
1️⃣ Create a highly engaging and fun environment with items and activities. Preferred games are a good place to start!
2️⃣ Prepare back up reinforcements. In this video the therapist has prepared the clients token board as a way to provide feedback for positive play and communication. This keeps the child motivated to continue to play and engaged with his therapist.
3️⃣Honor and promote communication. Ensure you have the child’s AAC device or other visual to help guide them to communicate throughout their activities.
4️⃣Least intrusive prompts! Allow the child to lead and only provide printing at lower levels to promote independence.
