In honor of World Senior Citizen's Day, we are spotlighting the powerful role our residents are playing in shaping, inspiring, and enriching the world around them. 🌎✨ Each year, our Belmont Blooms campaigns encourage residents to explore sustainability through creative, community-focused initiatives, ranging from farm-to-table dining and upcycling projects to sustainable fashion shows. Our Belmont Blooms campaign really focuses on deepened connections and raised awareness of older adults’ roles in giving back and shaping their local communities. We are grateful to our incredible staff and residents who continue to make a difference each year. 🌟🏆💕

Happy National Couples Day! 💕✨ Today, we’re celebrating Jan & Otto, one of our beautiful couples who found love at our Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway community three years ago where their love story began in Bible Study. From reading scripture together to staying fit, they share a deep bond, and one of their favorite traditions is color coordinating their outfits every day! Jan and Otto's love story reminds us that finding love and creating special moments are timeless. 🥂💖

Today, we honor Vincent L., one of our incredible Belmont Village Senior Living Fort Lauderdale residents, whose dedication shaped generations of future leaders. From 1969 to 1988, he served as Chairman of the U.S. Naval Academy Committee for Accreditation of Engineering Programs. His leadership established and maintained nationally accredited programs that continue to uphold excellence at the Academy.

Our Belmont Village Senior Living Aventura community is coming to life, and we're thrilled to see all the progress that's being made! Trees have been flown in and placed on the pool deck, sidewalks are being poured, topping slabs are nearly complete, and the AC systems are being installed. We're just months in to constructing Belmont Village Rancho Santa Fe and we are thrilled to have already earned distinguished recognition for its architectural design within the industry. At the Gold Nugget Awards, we received the award of merit in the “Best 55+ Housing Community - On-The Boards” award, and at the SAGE Awards, we were honored with the “Best 55+ Assisted Living - On-The-Boards" recognition. 🏆 We are incredibly grateful for these accolades, which reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence in senior living. Our hearts are with the families and communities impacted by the devastating flooding across Central Texas on July 4-5. While we are thankful that our Texas communities, residents and staff were safely out of harm’s way, we are deeply saddened by the loss and damage suffered by our friends and neighbors in our home state.

In response, Belmont Village is committed to supporting recovery efforts and helping our neighbors in need. We are thrilled to see our community in Los Angeles recently get recognized for its incredible contributions and integration with the greater Westwood community. In celebration its 15th anniversary, Belmont Village was recognized with multiple awards and honors at a recent Westwood Community Council meeting. 🏆🎉 The team accepted awards presented by the City of Los Angeles (Council of the 5th District), UCLA as well as a certificate of congressional recognition. September 2024 Employee Spotlight 🌟

Helen Estrada has been an integral part of our community for more than seven years. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles, Helen has transitioned through various roles at Belmont Village, starting as a server and advancing to table captain, senior admin specialist, and now, human resource generalist. Helen’s contributions extend beyond our Westwood community, as she has supported several of our other Belmont Village communities, including Belmont Village Senior Living Aliso Viejo, Belmont Village Senior Living Hollywood Hills and Belmont Village Senior Living Encino and assisting us in launching new communities like Belmont Village Senior Living La Jolla.

We’re beyond proud to have Helen as part of the Belmont Village family. Her journey is a testament to the growth and dedication we value in our team members, and we look forward to seeing her continue to inspire those around her! 🙏❤️

We recently celebrated a milestone at our community—our 15th Anniversary! ❤️🎉 The event was a vibrant and unforgettable Bali Hai-themed celebration. 🌺🏝️ Our residents and staff enjoyed an event filled with tropical decor, delicious island-inspired cuisine and entertainment. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our journey together, and I look forward to many more years of creating cherished memories together. We’ll learn how to recognize and avoid common scams that are targeted at seniors and their families. These scams have become more convincing and sophisticated than ever. We’ll review phishing scams that attempt to steal your personal information, fake tech support scams, and grandparent scams— callers posting as a grandchild. Illinois residents will also learn how to file a complaint regarding scams with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Speaker: Sonya Tompkins, Liaison, Illinois Attorney General’s Office

Sonya works to foster communication and collaboration between the government and the community. Previously, she held a leadership role with the Cook County Treasurer’s office, spearheading initiatives such as Black Houses Matter. With a background as a longtime former talk radio producer with WVON 1690AM, Sonya brings a wealth of experience in media, communications, and community engagement to her current role.
