Back at it today at the James Joyce Ramble—gave racing another shot and I’m really glad I did.

One of my favorite things about run club? The kind of peer pressure that actually makes you better.

It’s not about competition—it’s about being surrounded by people who nudge you just enough to step outside your comfort zone. You show up for yourself, but you stay for each other.

Last night was the perfect example: I asked for 6–7 reps. After 6, a few people stepped up for one more… and within seconds, the whole group followed. That’s the magic. We rise together.

I want to take a moment to highlight an incredible man—and the foundation he represents.

Picture this: a warm, beautiful Tuesday night. Team LL Health is wrapping up a signature hill workout when a pickup truck pulls over. Out hops this energetic, upbeat guy in full landscaping gear. He walks to the back of his truck, grabs a pair of sneakers, and says, “This looks great… how do I join?”

Without missing a beat, the team—already finished—jumped back in for one more hill with him.

That’s when we met Lucas Carr.

Lucas is deeply involved with the Matt Brown Foundation, and he pushes Matt in many of the big local races—including the Boston Marathon this coming
Monday.

In just a few minutes, his positivity, energy, and selflessness were impossible to miss. It was an absolute honor to run alongside him (and sneak in a few coaching tips along the way).

Anniversary miles just feel extra special ❤️🏃‍♀️

Nothing fancy—just showing up, lacing up, and getting to do life (and miles) side by side. Grateful for a partner who’s in it for the long run… and a crew who shows up with us every step of the way.

Some years feel smooth, some feel like hills—but we keep moving forward, together.

Cheers to more miles, more laughs, and a whole lot of in-between moments that matter most.

I registered for the James Joyce Ramble on 4/26 — and when it was 13 degrees this morning, that registration was the main reason I got out the door.

Without it? It would’ve been very easy to hit snooze and talk myself out of it.

Sometimes we don’t need more motivation.
We need commitment.

A neighbor came up to me at the gym today and said she’s been thinking about me and knows it’s time to get back into running.

It reminded me how often we avoid the very thing that could help us feel stronger—because it feels hard or scary.

Last night was such a blast — so much fun, in fact, that I completely forgot to take a single photo at our end-of-season party! We tackled some hills (my new favorite route), enjoyed great food, and handed out a few well-deserved paper plate awards. 💪

The bonds within this multi-generational group are truly special — we lean on each other through tough times, celebrate victories and running goals, and keep pushing one another to be happier, healthier, and stronger people. ❤️
