Darryl Thomas and his family received a life-changing gift today when we presented them with the keys to their newly renovated, mortgage-free home in Waco, Texas. The home, donated by Bank of America to the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP), was given to the Thomas family through the House-a-Vet program.

Darryl Thomas served five years in the U.S. Marine Corp., completing two tours in Kuwait and Iraq. After his military discharge in 2005, Thomas faced difficulties, which caused him to become homeless. Against the odds, Thomas found a way to become a schoolteacher. In addition to being a teacher, Thomas mentors at-risk, young men transitioning from childhood to manhood.
