Kintsukuroi (also known as Kintsugi, meaning “golden joinery”) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. This practice embraces flaws as part of an object’s history rather than something to be hidden.

Kintsukuroi teaches that brokenness is not something to be hidden but celebrated. Just as pottery is repaired with gold, our scars—emotional or physical—are part of our unique story and can be embraced as marks of strength
