Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA)

Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) Based in Wethersfield, Conn., CFDA is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes

Every day, we face new experiences and challenges in funeral service. Some are specific to the business of serving the family and friends of ones lost. Others are helping consumers make important decisions that are personal and meaningful to them, including planning ahead and prefunding funerals. Increasingly, our organization responds to our funeral director members' questions about trusts, taxes

, marketing and licensing, and the ever-changing requisites for employees, their insurance, their rights and their responsibilities. These solutions and their resources are the business of CFDA.

The Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association Presidents’ Award was presented recently to Shiloh Dombek, a graduate from the Goodwin University Funeral Service Program, by MFDA First Vice President Stephen Gemelli at the school’s June 2 ceremony. Shiloh, a resident of Chicopee associated with Forastiere Funeral Homes of East Longmeadow, was noted for exemplifying the highest ideals of the funeral service profession through her extraordinary dedication and perseverance. As a second-career professional who balanced the demands of motherhood and full-time employment while excelling in mortuary science education, Shiloh has demonstrated an uncommon commitment to serving families during their most vulnerable moments. Her academic excellence, despite numerous competing responsibilities, speaks volumes about her character and unwavering focus.

CFDA Honors All Funeral Service Professionals on this National Funeral Directors and Morticians Recognition Day! Today, on March 11, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the dedication, compassion and professionalism of funeral directors and morticians across the nation. This is opportunity to acknowledge the essential role you play in helping families navigate loss, honor loved ones and find comfort in meaningful farewells.

Funeral service is not just a profession – it’s a calling. We are there for families during their most difficult moments, offering guidance, care and support when they need it most. We provide a steady presence in times of uncertainty, ensuring that every final tribute is carried out with dignity and respect.

At CFDA, we see and appreciate the hard work, long hours, and emotional strength it takes to serve our communities and we celebrate you. And while you spend your days caring for others, we encourage you to take a moment to care for yourself, too. Whether it’s connecting with peers, reflecting on the impact you’ve made, or simply pausing to acknowledge your own dedication, know that your work is valued and deeply appreciated.

FROM ALL OF US AT CFDA – thank you for everything you do!

Our Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) funeral directors across the state were proud to partner with Connecticut Veterans Affairs to make today’s military ceremony at the CT State Veterans Cemetery possible. Together, we provided a dignified send-off for three U.S. Army veterans’ unclaimed cremains. Thanks to Ct Patriot Guard, the many U.S. veterans and the public who attended, to DVA Commissioner Ron Welch, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congressman John Larson, CFDA President Lionel Lessard, and Middletown Mayor Ben Florsheim for speaking, and to Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes, Funk Funeral Home, Carmon Community Funeral Homes, and Mackenzie Vault, Inc. for providing the hearses and the urns. We also appreciate the CT media who covered the ceremony to make it possible many others to appreciate this event.
