Living in a "performances based world" I have recently seen an increase in clients who seek counseling because they are facing immense academic pressures in school. As much as I advocate the importance of supporting our children in their academic successes - I believe it's more important to support them in their academic struggles. This is a great letter demonstrating the "grace" our kids not just want (but need) from us -a grace that tells them we love them no matter what the outcome.

In many ways decisions make our destiny- so how important is it to teach our kids how to make the right decisions in their own lives. Should I hang out with this group? My friends are doing this-should I try it out? They are asking me now-What should I do? These are all questions requiring a decision our kids will be faced with at some point - so in what ways can we help them prepare for making the right one?

This is a great article illustrating some basic steps on helping us teach our youth how to make the right decisions in life.

Teens are faced with tough choices every single day. Teach your teen these steps that will help her make good decisions for herself.

Sleep is food for the brain! Teens need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night to function best. Most teens do not get enough sleep — one study found that only 15% reported sleeping 8 1/2 hours on school nights.
