Help Save Wethersfield’s Community Ambulance!

The State has approved replacing WEMSA — Wethersfield’s trusted, non-profit ambulance service for nearly 70 years — with Aetna Ambulance, a large for-profit company owned by Hartford Healthcare and Prospect Medical Holdings, which is now in bankruptcy.

This decision, made behind closed doors and without cause, threatens local emergency care. Unlike other towns, WEMSA gets no subsidy: we buy our own ambulances, supplies, and even pay rent to the Town.

Aetna wants a monopoly, putting profits before patient safety. WEMSA keeps three ambulances in Wethersfield at all times — Aetna will commit to only one, often coming from outside town, risking deadly delays.

We’re fighting this in State Court to protect fast, reliable EMS for Wethersfield, Newington, Rocky Hill, Glastonbury, and all our neighbors. We can’t do it alone — we need your help to cover legal costs.

Please donate to WEMSA today. Your support keeps emergency care local, fast, and focused on patients — not profits.

The Wethersfield Emergency Medical Services Association (WEMSA), Wethersfield’s local, nonprofit ambulance service, is at risk of being replaced by the Town of Wethersfield with Aetna Ambulance—a for-profit company—without a public vote or input.

WEMSA has provided 911 care to Wethersfield since 1956, at no cost to taxpayers. We staff our own ambulances, respond only to in-town emergencies, and are deeply rooted in the Wethersfield community.

Now, the Town has petitioned the State to replace us. We’re in a legal battle to keep serving you, but we need your help covering legal fees and staying operational.

What’s at risk?
* Delaying ambulance response times when every minute matters
* Replacing hometown care with corporate control
* Giving up a trusted nonprofit with no taxpayer burden

This is YOUR ambulance service.
